This vintage crushed red velvet Bonwit Teller dress is absolutely breathtaking. She has that classic 1950’s silhouette with a beautifully full skirt, a sculpted bodice, and those romantic puffed sleeves. The color is a deep ruby rich red that looks stunning in person and the velvet has that luxurious weight and drape you only find in true vintage pieces. She is a rare and very high end find.
There are a few flaws and repairs to note. There are visible repairs near the back of the neckline and there is a black stain tucked within one of the folds of the skirt. I acquired her exactly as she is and have not attempted laundering because she should be professionally cleaned due to her age and delicate nature. I cannot guarantee that there are no loose threads or future seam pops although there are no visible tears or rips at this time. There is also a little rhinestone missing from the last button. I feel like in the right hands she will be restored to perfection. Please handle with care and pay close attention to measurements. She has a bit of give but should not be forced.
Approximate flat lay measurements are
PTP 16 inches at rest and 17 inches at full
waist 12.5 inches at rest and 13 inches at full
hips are free
length 45 inches
No size tag best for Small or XS

@justsiren I can! This dress is so very special and I’ve been hoping to see her out especially for the holidays. She absolutely has a past to her and I would love to know her stories!

I love her yes I do a lot of 1940s events and I wasn’t able to get a holiday dress I wanted so I’m in search for another desperately haha 😭 I’m just confused about the shoulder I was just measuring myself does it fit like 25/26 cuz idk if my arms might be fat 😭

@justsiren I just added a new pic- it’s the very top of shoulders/neck line from the back.
I’ll add any additional measurements you want or need. Vintage is SO hard to figure out sometimes and if you grab her I want you to feel confident!

@opal_and_ash Aww man I think the shoulder part looks small everything else is fine but I’m measuring like almost 13 on shoulders 😭

@justsiren I just posted pictures with me wearing it. I’m a pretty true size 4. 32DD. If I were a size 2 or smaller this would be more of an ideal fit in my opinion. I would personally need a little more wiggle room because it’s delicate with no stretch.

Oh ok thank you I’m a 34B I feel like I’m a true small but yes vintage is tricky so I’m debating I feel like I do have normal shoulders but idk how that would affect me with this dress

@justsiren It’s more at the top of the shoulders for the back of the neckline but not shoulder to shoulder and it tapers out to hold the puff in the sleeve cap. I also have average shoulders/arms. I think I’m just one size too big for her in general.
