Chinese Traditional Folk Art PaperCuts (8)

Vintage Chinese paper cuts depicting warriors are a form of traditional folk art, with designs often featuring historical or mythical figures. The art form developed over centuries, with origins tracing back to the Southern and Northern Dynasties and later evolving into a serious art during the Tang Dynasty. While paper was also used historically for protective armour for warriors, this refers to a separate and much more practical application of the material. There are 8 warriors in total. The first warrior picture is taken on a glass table to try and show how detailed and delicate the paper cuts are. All 8 warriors have been kept in parchment paper and the colours are stunning. Each warrior measures approx. 8x10 inches
