Fabulous Vintage Embroidered Gold Silk Cocktail Sheath Wiggle Dress 50s 60s

I believe it was made bespoke by a dressmaker or an extremely skilled home seamstress. No detail was missed in making this dress. Thanks to its fitted style and exquisite tailoring, it can be worn with or without the self belt. Both front pockets have a notch that matches the one on the neckline. The hem, neckline and arm holes are hand-stitched so the thread only goes through the bottom layer of fabric inside the dress. That means it is not visible when the dress is worn, so it does not interfere with the appearance of the embroidery. There is a 9" hidden zipper on the left side of the dress for access, and an 11" kick pleat in the back for movement. As is usual with midcentury wiggle/pencil dresses and skirts, this dress is meant to fit tightly but has no stretch at all. For that reason, please check the measurements carefully before buying. To fit properly, this item needs to be slightly larger than you. It may help to measure something similar that you already own.
