How to convert vintage measurements for modern sizing?
First, instead of measuring your own body, find a similar garment that fits you well (in this case a dress, a top or a coat), lay it flat on a table and use a tape measure to find the following sizes:
A: Shoulder to shoulder
B: Bust (Pit to pit)
C: Waist (narrowest part of garment)
D: Hips
E: Sleeves length
F: Total length
Double the results for the bust, waist and hips.
Use the conversion chart to find the size (Up to that number!)
Example, for a dress:
bust 36” is up to size 8
waist 29” is up to size 6
hips 38” is up to size 6
Dress would be a size 6
Example, for a top:
bust 38” is up to size 10
waist 30” is up to size 8
Top would be a size 8
