Authentic original etching, "Going On the Whale," hand-signed and dated 1977 by American artist Jack Coughlin (b. 1932). This is the fourth piece in his series of whaling scenes. Created for the Franklin Mint in collaboration with the New Bedford Whaling Museum, this work's provenance is guaranteed by its original Certificate of Authenticity (COA) on the reverse. The artwork depicts the moment whalemen in a small boat prepare to strike as the whale dives. The tension of the hunt is captured. This piece would complete the set of four or stand alone as maritime art. Condition: The etching is in excellent condition, protected under acrylic. The matting is clean.
