Hi, I'm new to posh. I'm just a freshman in college with a passion for makeup! Decluttered my huge makeup collection, jewelry, handbags & clothes but getting rid of ALL the makeup first. As much as a makeup junkie I am, I'm going organic so I'm letting go of everything even my Nars, Chanel, YSL, tarte, etc makeup, a lot of which are unused in original packaging. These cult favorites deserve to land in a makeup lover's hand. ❤️

mcjayne @phoxbeautybox So cool you are doing that! I'm doing the same! Which is really hard in my line of work but it's amazing how many bad ingredients out skin absorbs isn't it! I've graduated to making all my own household products too & as a family we grow a lot of what we eat & eat GMO. I wish, when I was your age, I had been as smart as you!🌹😉

phoxbeautybox @mcjayne thanks so much for your kind words!!! 😊 It's hard for me bc I spent sooo much money on conventional makeup (not to mention green beauty is quite expensive & im just a college student!) and I love makeup so I hate being limited to certain brands or types but I know it's better for me to switch. That's awesome that you're switching everything to natural; your precious baby is going to grow up so healthy. I still have so much to learn & switch my shower & cleaning products etc etc!!

mcjayne @phoxbeautybox it is pricy and I totally understand because I'm still trying to get the most beloved of my makeup brands in my personal stash (sigh...Chanel 😰), but I've noticed great things since I started moving my family to this way of life & I remember all too well, my own college budget😱(lack of) I've got some simple make your own items I am going to post so I will tag you on my recipes ok?

mcjayne @phoxbeautybox If you have one or two favorite essential oils that's the best thing to start with! whole foods has a 360 degree brand, (uses great ingredients & prices are 👍🏻), & they carry lots of great body washes, shampoos etc but making your own is incredibly cost effective (laundry products for my family of 5 is $90 a year compared to the average of $500!) just to give you an idea!

phoxbeautybox @mcjayne awesome! I'm a DIY person so I love that stuff haha. Yeah even small things like when I exercise more & eat more vegetables, etc I am so much happier. The "college student diet" & lifestyle is hard to get out of sometimes, my friends all think I'm turning into a hippie bc I'm going green w everything in my life & trying to get into meditation etc. 😂 it's hard though I feel like I fall out of routine a lot. :/

phoxbeautybox @mcjayne it's funny bc I already shop regularly at whole foods but somehow it never occurred to me to buy anything besides food there haha! Although I do remember trying a few natural shampoos & conditioners that worked horribly for me a few years ago & I guess I gave up on natural hair products.

mcjayne @phoxbeautybox I still have habits I struggle to get rid of...it's hard to change all at once so just making the changes you are now is huge👍🏻college is for having fun & you just have to balance. Sleep is the biggest gift you can give your body, better eating habits (substitute little things here & there, they add up!) & knowing when to say "I need to relax" is great (meditation gets easier & don't concentrate on trying to think of nothing...go to a place you are happy) you are doing great!🌹

mcjayne @phoxbeautybox I really like their assortment of products, you really can't go wrong there & they usually have great coupons on their flyer at the front door when you walk in and there's always a deal going on...whole foods cosmetics are great too, I LOVE playing with the testers and making my hubby nuts bahaha😂

phoxbeautybox @mcjayne I never tried makeup from whole foods...I assumed natural meant it wouldn't perform well. I've been researching ingredients in products & find it difficult to weed out what's actually true...parabens are bad/it's all a misconception, 70% of makeup gets absorbed into the skin/it's difficult for makeup to be absorbed etc etc... There always seems to be convincing proof & studies done by both sides of the argument.

mcjayne @phoxbeautybox It's misleading & it almost requires a chem Ph.D. to read ingredient listings anymore😳! I will tell you that my fave, absolute trusted brands for being great AND being natural is juice beauty & tarte, they are 2 you can't go wrong with & mineral fusion, dr Haushka & weleda (last 3 are @ w. Foods) are AWESOME & Ive used all of them & I ❤️try & eat local produce, smoothies pack ingredients into one place, I keep snacks in baggies (almonds, cubed cheese, grapes, cherries).

mcjayne @phoxbeautybox I hate that character limit!😂it's really about making changes when and where YOU can. It's tough to not grab a snickers when you are in a hurry, or worry about where the salad in the cafeteria comes from 😳! But make changes where you can & I can promise you there's a noticeable difference, you already look healthy and gorgeous already! 🌹😍

phoxbeautybox @mcjayne I've heard of juice beauty!! I actually just ordered a foundation from w3ll people, my first green beauty product! Have you heard of Kjaer Weiss? They're the best of the best but a total luxury brand that's Chanel prices 😭 I'm actually weary of tarte, it's known for being the most misleading brand & after looking into the ingredients on their foundations on EWG I was like 😨

I am going to look much closer at the tarte ingredients too! phoxbeautybox @mcjayne OMG that's so funny because I've been luuusting over their cream brush in embrace! I saw it on Lilly from genuineglow & I was like ok now I REALLY need it. Hopefully it's longlasting, cream blushes seem to just get sucked up by my skin & don't last long.

My friends aren't unhealthy but don't really care for a "green lifestyle" or you know, switching over all their products. mcjayne @phoxbeautybox cream blushes are tricky & not as easy as they look! The embrace stayed on 8 hours with primer (Utah in August👍🏻), so not bad at all! To make it last a little longer, I swipe on a very minimal amount of powder blush & ive found friends who told me I was a hippy now see that I'm fighting cancer easier,it's not a coincidence.I've been able to influence others by example, no matter how subtle. You are already making your friends think twice, guarantee love! 🌹
