Marsell purple suede cutout heeled booties, EU40

Marsell is an Italian handmade luxury brand established in 2001 whose approach to design incorporates boundary pushing deconstructivist principles. Their shoes are uniquely identifiable, and this pair of formerly beige cutout booties has a decidedly brutalist feel. The oversized chunky heel has a rough hewn feel almost like a stone obelisk. By contrast, the bootie upper, with its stark cutouts, is quite feminine, hugging the foot. I found this pair of booties in a rather boring beige, but there was a slight mismatch in color between the shoes. The zipper pulls are also mismatched, but they're similar enough that I didn't even notice at first - but the color mismatch was fairly noticeable. They are unworn, but perhaps they were a display sample that was roughly handled & repaired, where one shoe was exposed to sun. I re-dyed the suede in a vibrant purple shade, which took numerous dye applications, but I think the results were worth it. I used Angelus suede dressing, roughly equal parts burgundy, wine-tone, and purple. They're size EU40, a snug fit on my size 9.5 feet. The footbed measures 10.5", so they should work for up to a size 10 as long as your feet aren't too wide.
