issabeaujewelry I am happy that I came across your closet! ❤I am usually not so open about this (w/my followers) but am also a cancer survivor❤Last summer was diagnosed w/invasive ductal carcinoma. lumpectomy, lymphectomy (3 sentinel nodes removed) & 4 weeks radiation. The nodes were negative.I am having a lot of lymphedema in my boob-- a little in my arm. Have done some PT which has helped, back to work in January & feel so grateful & thankful ❤ I would love to hear your story ❤❤❤

I was diagnosed July 9th of 2009 with ductal carcinoma non-invasive. I had 2 lumpectomy's and 38 radiation treatments. I started on tamoxifen for 1 year, and I was so sick on it, I had to stop.

kikiklein @issabot Then I bought an all natural breast health book and looked up breast cancer. And they talked about turmeric. So, I started taking that. Switched oncologists who didn't have a problem with the turmeric.

kikiklein @issabot She said if my grade of cancer was higher, she would have been more concerned. But she also said, that they have been finding good studies with cancer and turmeric. Yesterday, July 9th, I'm happy to say that I'm 10 years cancer free. We are both survivors. Did they give you a sleeve for your arm for the lymphedema?

issabeaujewelry @kikiklein wowzers! You have been thru so much-- so many appointments were so mind boggling to me, I used to dread the appts but now I look forward to seeing my oncologist. That is a lot of radiation :( the radiation threw me for a loop, I had no idea it would literally suck the life energy out of me. I am just now starting to feel almost normal again. 7 months later!

issabeaujewelry @kikiklein Because I have been in menopause for 6 years my oncologist put me on anastrozole. It sucks. I already had hot flashes like 3-4 times an hour. Now they are worse which affects my mood & work. It also causes bone loss & during the process of diagnosis they did a bone scan which showed osteoporosis of my spine & hips....n

issabeaujewelry @kikiklein So I will need an infusion of a bone strengthening med every 6 months while taking anastrozole. The first one I had recently, a week later my knee blew up to the size of a cantelope. Which was most likely caused by the infusion b/c the med can cause exacerbation of osteoarthritis.... ! I couldnt walk & had an orthopedist drain the fluid off of my knee. All I can do is laugh, grin & bear it. I am finding it kind of comical now because it is much better for me than being angry ❤

issabeaujewelry @kikiklein I find so much encouragement & strength in others who have similar stories. Not my friends, or family, who truthfully almost ran when they heard the word "cancer." But my coworkers (I am a nurse) & total strangers actually have touched my heart & soul & helped me get through the rough times. I was so angry when I had my biopsy & got the results & was not prepared for that feeling. The first thing I thought was "I don't have time for this!!!" LOL

issabeaujewelry @kikiklein I had my PCP send my chart to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Since my 1st appt with them I felt relief, I didn't have to be my own advocate there & they treated me like a whole person. The care I have received there has been phenomenal. They know so much about the estrogen-fed cancers now, treatment is streamlined but also individualized. I am part of 3 medical studies, students & scientists will learn from my dysfunctional cells & help others just like us in the future❤❤❤

I wish you all the best, thank you for chatting with me-- it helps to know I am not the only one ❤❤❤ it is such a "popular" cancer, it is frightening really. I pray that the government will start listening to scientists & ban all known & study-proven carcinogenics!! We can't beat cancer until they do.

kikiklein @issabot So sorry for my delayed response. Yes, the radiation really makes you tired. I remember my breast got so pink I looked like had a sunburn. I used aqua-fore which helped so much. The tamoxifen I took literally threw me into menopause. Now, I'm done. LOL. The sweating was getting so ridiculous. My older son graduated HS in 2010. I was a chaperone on his class trip...

kikiklein @issabot I was sweating so bad at home, I had to buy one of those neck buddies that you put in water and they stay cold for several days and wear it around my neck. I really helped. I feel for you the hot flashes are awful. I'm so sorry about the osteoporosis. I have it in my hips. Well last bone density they said I had osteopina. I sometimes wonder if it is from the tamoxifen I took for a year.

When I had my biopsy and the called me in a week later for the results and when the radiologist said cancer, I went into shock. WHAT!!! Cancer. I drove home from the doctors literally feeling numb. But, I figured, I could either crawl under a chair and cry, or deal with it. I dealt with it. LOL

I take it in pill form, have powdered form that I put in my tea. I totally agree with you about the government listening to the scientists and ban all know carcinogenics.
