kbuenostyle @auchieau48 oh gosh, thank you!! 😊 How did you get into it, are you self-taught? I don't totally see the transition route from doing print design like I mostly do, to doing UX. I'm interested but have no clue where to start learning!

auchieau48 Ah I went the direct "UX track" and did an undergrad in Cognitive Science and the grad for HCI ...in the east coast, if you're interested in more school. Most people in UX have very diverse backgrounds though and are either self-taught (from reading to on-the-job) or went to grad school directly from arch, vd, psychology. Have you done any web/app design and is that what you're interested in? If so it's very easy to transition, if not might be a great place to start.

auchieau48 Many companies now are looking for the unicorn that can do both graphic design and UX, and even better + coding. And have you already picked up some of the must have quick reads?

auchieau48 If you're not looking to do more school, I would say to start with some reading if you haven't already, and then look into some workshops/conferences and one-off training, anything near you. You can also watch online videos on YouTube or take virtual online classes. Stanford has lots of basic ones that are free and good.

kbuenostyle Thanks for all that info @auchieau48! I definitely can't go back to school, the loans I already have are killing me 😖 I guess I need to start with web design and development, which is actually what I've been working on. I use YouTube a lot, as well as Lynda.com. I'll have to check on Coursera too. I always sort of thought UX was just a natural step up from web design, but I found out it's a totally different field.

sami023 I'm a pescatarian too! I've noticed most people look at me like I have two heads when I use the proper term so I usually saying vegetarian for simplicity's sake 😂 Adorable little boy!

kbuenostyle @sami023 oh my gosh, me too. I always say vegetarian. Then when I order fish they're like, "hey didn't you say..." lol It's so confusing. Honestly I was a strict vegetarian for 12 years until I met my fiancé. He grew up in Charleston, SC and loves seafood. I have to admit I'm healthier than I was before, in terms of getting enough protein.

sami023 Yes! I knew you'd get the struggle!😂 Like...do I sit here and explain or skip sounding like a dictionary this time? 🤔 I played around with vegetarianism as early as 4-5...but those darn happy meals made it impossible until 5th grade. Same- I only started adding seafood in a few years ago and no longer look like a complete twig for it! Haha in a good way...yknow. Please excuse my rambling, I'm good at turning a sentence into a novel (if it weren't obvious) 😂

Love to go off on a tangent lol I used to try and educate everyone about my diet but after all these years I'm tired lol I just do my weird eating thing and try not to be too much of a pain in the rear to anyone who's feeding me.

kbuenostyle @sami023 I do have really white walls in my bedroom (which, other than I enjoy taking my pics there) I really hate. We keep talking about finally making our house look like a home and painting the rooms one of these days. I use a few editing apps to get white backgrounds though. Sometimes just the iPhone photo editor does the trick!

sami023 I constantly think about repainting the walls in my house too....except the first time around made me realize I'm incapable of painting a wall lol. Makes perfect sense, considering I was always such an art nerd.🤔 I have an iPhone as well...maybe it's just the lighting or my shaky hands but I'm usually disappointed with the photo quality, with or without the built in editing.

kbuenostyle @sami023 it's funny what you said about not being a good painter but being an art nerd...when people visit our house they always assume we're gonna have cool art everywhere because I'm an artist but...I don't really have anything on the walls, much less my own art. Plus my fiancé is halfway decent at decorating and the stuff he does people always give me credit for. I have to be like "nope, sorry, I'm not the decorator around here either" lol

sami023 Painting walls and using spray paint, just cannot get a grip on either. Anything else no problem- go figure since I'm told it's relatively SO EASY 🙄 Ok, I have piles of crap (framed art/photos/etc) sitting because hanging anything is another task that I just can't do! It feels like a massive, tedious project to me every time 😂

Some people join together in groups and one person will tag the list of people in the group under the listings of party hosts. Some are nominated by their friends. Other people comment themselves asking for the host to check out their listings, or some will tag the host in a specific listing of theirs.

I've definitely looked through most of the people who have been tagged in my party listing, but I've also spent a lot of time browsing on my own.

sami023 Puppy pics because most other aspects of my life aren't nearly as cute or photo worthy 😂 Looking through your posts on Insta gave me the same envy I got when I saw your closet. kbuenostyle @sami023 I actually have a few Instagram accounts because I wanted to keep my Posh stuff separate from my personal stuff but I like when people show their life rather than just stuff they're selling. And managing multiple accounts is just a giant pain in the butt. I got the dress form on eBay for less than $50. I want a nicer one, but for pictures it's not terrible. It's not like I sew, though I want to learn. Maybe then I'll get a nicer one.
