cheryl1da Andrea, Poshmark tends to make it seem like if you make an offer the potential buyers can counter AND still receive the offered shipping rate. It doesn't work that way...I had to learn, too. That's why you will find ALL my items have the discounted shipping rate in the listing. cheryl1da Hi, again. Just a bit of advice. You offer some great vintage pieces. However, telling potential buyers they may have slight signs of wear AND stating you don't clean them absolutely affects how people view some really super jewelry! Your pics never show wear...partly because brands like Monet (older pieces) were extremely well-created! Wear may only show on the closures or ...? I only have limited time to list.

Most good pieces don't show wear in pics, but by explaining where it is creates confidence. 2nd, telling people you leave cleaning up to them gives others the impression you don't care, and I think you DO! Frankly, I am probably one of the few who offers "cleaned/polished" jewelry. Hey, just read my Meet-the-Posher and and the listing, "My Aunt's Jewelry ROOM," & you may understand.

cheryl1da Andrea, I believe you are a better seller than those repeated statements imply. Nope, I don't think you should shoot every nook of your jewelry. Nope, I certainly don't think you should feel the need to clean it! But you will be able to make more $ by simply "educating" a bit by telling visitors what YOU see as wear/missing stones/whatever on a piece, THEN not even mentioning a thing about whether a piece has been cleaned.

cheryl1da You may think this strange coming from someone like me, but if you do read the listings I suggest you will see I never mention that. Give yourself a break. Dirt is everywhere! Wear happens, especially the way NEW pieces are made! LOL Just a sentence that tells your buyers why a piece IS worth a look is usually all that's needed. I rarely buy jewelry- read why in those 2 listings. When I do it goes straight to My Aunt! Questions? Feel free to ask...and ENJOY 😉😊 Cheryl

I started collecting vintage costume jewelry about five years ago. While I have a knack for honing in on signed expensive pieces for cheap prices, I still lack so much knowledge. I don’t have the terminology to describe my pieces.

anrauh71 I’m afraid to describe them incorrectly, so I just hope the customers like the pictures. I also have no idea what to charge. I do internet research, but the prices vary so much. The few items I’ve sold, I’ve practically given them away. My main problem is that I can’t tell a cabochon from a faux pearl to a rhinestone to an opal for sure. I also have tons of unmarked vintage jewelry. I don’t know what any of its worth without a signature.

You cannot simply hope your photos will be perfect. Descriptions do not have to be perfect either. I am very happy you would like further advice from my wife. I fell in love with vintage costume jewelry about five years ago. It began to become an addiction, especially when I hit a bargain at a thrift store or estate sale. anrauh71 I decided rather than letting this beauty sit unseen in a box, I rather pass it on to other women who would enjoy wearing the pieces while, at the same time, making some money I could definitely use. My sister does Poshmark, so I decided to try it. I’m just very overwhelmed with all the shares, followers, parties, and the people who want a $100 piece of jewelry for $5. All in all, I just love jewelry. It’s small, beautiful, shiny, and, usually helps a woman shine with confidence.

cheryl1da With only a few exceptions I tell ALL Poshers to place a value of a million dollars on their Meet-the-Posher listing. You're worth it just for being YOU! 💖 Because too many Poshers tried to bundle My Aunt's Jewelry Room listing and MY Meet-the-Posher listing I had to make mine a lower value and explain they did not constitute items for sale or copying. cheryl1da Sorry, I am a bit confused. Did TONYA remark it seemed weird I couldn't leave a message? You see, Andrea, anyone can block a member at any time. You just go to the person's closet (say mine) and in the upper right corner there are 3 dots. If you click on those you will be offered the opportunity to block that person. It prevents them from commenting, buying, sharing, the works.

cheryl1da Why would someone do this? Usually to protect themselves. Let's say a person left a very ugly comment on a listing- they said a piece wasn't a real Monet brooch and you were a liar...it happens. Sometimes people can be mean for no reason. PM allows you to report the abusive comment so it will be removed AND you can go to their closet and block further "junk."

Remember when I told YOU I would be leaving comments & questions in your listings that others would normally do if they took the time to look at your jewelry? I added that these were NOT criticisms, just things people say or ask. YOU understood. You edited listings to provide the information that wasn't there. Most people I mentor love the results.

cheryl1da Other people HAVE had bad experiences & just can't trust. Being blocked doesn't hurt ME; it just let's me know a person probably is unable to believe what I am offering. In my work as a doc I am constantly faced with patients who have been betrayed by others- rape victims, injured elders who have been abused by their children, AND patients who have not been properly assessed and treated!
