Hello, All! I'm Alba. I'm a fine artist & clinical therapist by profession. I am a Mum, an ally, & a proud 17-years-and-counting BRCAI mutant; a feat not possible prior to 2004. I'm an active presence in the community as a volunteer in outreach & educational events, a cancer support group facilitator, a ChemoAngel, & speaker within the medical community regarding genetic mutations/cancer diagnosis effects upon young mothers. I made a promise to my big sister, Marli, before she passed from the same genetic cancer I currently live with - that although public speaking is not in my wheelhouse of 'good at' & I'm afraid of heights - that I would do what it took to make change. I would climb mountains for her. It won't change the past & it won't bring her back - and yet - I can carry more than cancer w/my two hands. Because it matters. Because we are all someone's daughter. Because to do nothing isn't an option. I keep my promises. I miss her everyday. I've been active in natural resources conservation & the bettering of practices for sustainability all my life. An entomology student - I contribute my fieldwork as a Citizen Scientist for Odonata, Moths, Butterflies & in helping the efforts of restoration/preservation of our native prairies. Our little gang includes, a rescue-ditch-kitteh from the wilds of Denmark, WI, & a sweet beautiful Ball Python. Thanks for stopping by!
