normafromva Welcome to Poshmark! I think you are really going to enjoy it here. I just started a closet in mid February after being strictly a buyer for 3 or 5 years. The people are so nice and sharing the knowledge...lots of great advice. If you ever need anything just reach out to me. All the best to you. Norma

avivasue @roxy2929 Thank you, Rochelle! I did have a lot of questions that I couldn’t find answers to on the site. Then I found a woman on Poshmark who lives in my town and she’s been great. But I’m sure I’ll have more questions, so thank you for offering to help! Stay safe during this crazy time.🙋🏻

adventuristress Hey! 👋 I saw on @clotheswhore2 ‘s post that you live in Randolph too! Guess we have a bunch of local ladies on here!! 🤍
Feb 10Reply
adventuristress
adventuristress @clotheswhore2 ohh thanks! Still kind of new here but been spending ALOT of time lately so learning quickly (& w help & thanks to other PMers like you!). Good to know about that though. Always cool to have local followers and PFFs!

avivasue
avivasue @adventuristress Hi, I’m in Randolph too. Poshmark has been a good learning experience. After almost a year of just selling, I’ve recently bought a couple things. I was hesitant about clothes not fitting, and then saw the “reposh” button.
Feb 10Reply
avivasue
avivasue @adventuristress When you “accept” a purchase, you’ll see the option to resell it if it doesn’t fit, etc. The seller’s photos for the item will be instantly available for you to use, so although there are no returns, there is this good option. And clotheswhore2 was very helpful!
Feb 10Reply
adventuristress
adventuristress @avivasue thanks! And yes—the re-poshing option is neat & helpful. The one & only item I have for sale in my PM closet right now is actually something I’m re-poshing (I used her photos but added some of my own too). As soon as I got the item (it’s a MK necklace) I realized that I already had the same exact necklace except mine is regular gold and the one I bought on here is rose gold (u know you have a shopping issue when you forget what you have & end up buying something you already own! Lol
Feb 10Reply
adventuristress
adventuristress @avivasue I’ve been really working to go thru my things & start separating anything I don’t use anymore (or never used & lots has tags on it still), because I have a bit of a shopping addiction haha. So I just need to finish separating at least 1 section of my closet, then get some good photos so I can create the listings & start to build my PM closet! I figure I’ll do my master closet by sections so that I can at least get my PM closet started, then keep moving onto adding more items
Feb 10Reply
adventuristress
adventuristress @avivasue I have SOOO much! 😬😅Like many of us, I’m sure...I have my master closet filled + 3 of our guest room closets totally full...half the items I’ve never used! So hopefully this will be a good way to clear some things out...but it’s also dangerous bc I’ll see things I like & buy more & it becomes a vicious cycle!
Feb 10Reply
adventuristress
adventuristress And yes! I’ve been hesitant to buy clothing too, especially pants, but I did buy a few shirts & dresses. Otherwise it’s been just a lot of accessories I’ve purchased on here. Bc I really need to start getting my own clothes sold (or at least listed) before I start buying more on here or my husband will have a heart attack! Has the re-poshing feature allowed u to make back the $ u spent on clothes that didn’t fit?
Feb 10Reply
avivasue
avivasue @adventuristress Hi, funny about the necklace! I’ve never been a shopper, other than art supplies. I just bought (and haven’t received yet) 2 JJill tops because I know my size. I’m lately into embroidery (the berets, etc) and did find a good buy on PM for a pretty embroidered tunic from Johnny Was.
Feb 10Reply
avivasue
avivasue @adventuristress One suggestion once you start posting - keep an inventory list of which closet, shelf, container, each item is in. I spent way too much time searching through multiple big containers for a brooch, etc. until I reorganized.
Feb 10Reply
avivasue
avivasue @adventuristress I am going to reposh a pair of earrings that are too heavy, but I’ll take my own photos. Also, be sure to point out and photo any defect, no matter how small. Most people are very nice, but I have seen some unpleasant back and forth dialogs when a buyer got an unpleasant surprise.
Feb 10Reply
avivasue
avivasue @adventuristress And yes, “browsing” on PM can become addictive! 😉
Feb 10Reply
avivasue
avivasue @adventuristress I forgot to mention - we’re originally from Boston. I grew up in Brookline right near BU. Loved Brookline!!
Feb 10Reply
adventuristress
adventuristress @avivasue Yes! I’m always very sure to describe exactly & include any potential imperfections—a thin line between being transparent but not scaring every buyer away by making it sound worse than it is...I actually ended up in a horrible situation myself with a Michael kors necklace I bought (one of the 1st buys I made on PM) & the seller labelled it as “brand new/been sitting in box” and when I got it, the chain was BROKEN & horribly tarnished/rusted...
Feb 10Reply
adventuristress
adventuristress @avivasue Looking more closely at it, it doesn’t even look authentic because I know MK REALLY well and the finish & style of chain and clasp is just never how MK jewelery is. So I put a claim in because I paid practically original price for it & she claimed the pics I sent that actually showed the damage & issues were NOT the same necklace she sent me! When it’s soo clear to anyone that it’s the same necklace as the one in her photos/listing...
Feb 10Reply
adventuristress
adventuristress @avivasue it’s just that the way she took the pics, she hid the damage, lighting was bad, etc. I feel dumb for falling for it now, but hindsight is 20/20 & I figured PM had strong protection for buyers. But then all PM did was offer me a $15 credit! I declined it bc I’m afraid I’d have trouble reselling it, and it feels unethical to resell something I’m not even sure is authentic...
Feb 10Reply
adventuristress
adventuristress @avivasue But so now it’s been “under review” for ~1month & I have no idea what will happen. I’m not picky at all, but I just don’t feel I could resell it, i def can’t/don’t want to wear it, so I had no choice but to put the claim in. And what bothered me the most is that she tried to claim that I’M lying & it’s not the same necklace she sent which is just so ridiculous! (Sorry I hate the 500 character limit makes me send so many comments.)
Feb 10Reply
adventuristress
adventuristress @avivasue I wish I could show u the pics. It’s ridiculous. I know MK so well & her necklace was rose gold & VERY pink, which is never the tone MK uses for rose gold—it’s always more gold than pink. And just so much more...ugh. I ALWAYS send everyone else 5 stars & good love notes, even if I’m really not very satisfied, I at least figure I’d the seller wasn’t deceitful then I’ll give 5 stars & at least a basic love note.
Feb 10Reply
adventuristress
adventuristress @avivasue and yes! I’m keeping things very organized w/ tags & #s and self location for the “inventory room” we have in the basement. I’ve helped sell for my husbands business a lot and I’m so OCD & I LOVE spreadsheets & order sheets & the like, so I’ll def do that! Thanks for the advice. I heard PM just started offering order print outs too which it seems sellers are split between liking the feature and not. & I lived right on Commonwealth Ave & had lots of friends in Brookline! Love it!

adventuristress *SHELF** location (typo)^^
Feb 10Reply
avivasue
avivasue @adventuristress Yes, I agree. 5 stars even if I wasn’t thrilled, which did happen with one purchase. But I hadn’t asked a couple questions I should have asked, so it wasn’t the seller’s fault. But your situation is very frustrating. Are you continuing to ask pm support what’s going on? .
Feb 10Reply
avivasue
avivasue @adventuristress I had a situation with a sale that was returned to me bc the buyer had moved and there was no forwarding address. After emailing a few times, I finally got the ok to repost the item. But had to keep asking.
Feb 10Reply
avivasue
avivasue @adventuristress Great about your organization! You’ll be fine. Commonwealth Ave and Beacon Street - a couple of the best location s in the world! I bought a straw bag bc I want to embroider it. It was clearly marked, in all caps, “copy”.
Feb 10Reply
avivasue
avivasue @adventuristress I used the order printouts (if you mean the ones that go to the buyer) for a couple months and then decided it wasn’t necessary. But it’s a good option if it’s an order with multiple items, just to make sure everything gets packed.
Feb 10Reply
avivasue
avivasue @adventuristress Time to do some organizing now. I’ve been saving way too many Amazon cartons for odd sized handbags that don’t fit in the priority mail cartons! Btw, your photos are lovely!

avivasue
avivasue @juniebee4900 Hi, you may even be too young to recall some of the articles in my closet! Many of the vintage bags and pieces of jewelry were purchased starting in 1950! Have fun looking!

adventuristress
adventuristress @avivasue Vintage is fun — I have a lot of stuff that was my grandmother and great aunts (just posted one shirt yesterday I think) but I honestly can’t tell which era it’s from...🤷🏼‍♀️. But they are in their 90s now so I know some of the pieces are def from the 1940s & 1950s! Can’t wait to get them up. Just can be very time consuming to get the good pics, write up descriptions etc...🥵
Mar 02Reply
avivasue
avivasue @adventuristress. Hi, that’s great to have some vintage pieces to put in your closet. There’s definitely a market for it. You probably know this, but check the prices on other sites as well as Poshmark. You can also get some dates from checking the other sites. But the people who buy vintage usually know a lot about it, so you don’t have to worry about being too specific about the age.
Mar 02Reply
avivasue
avivasue @adventuristress In fact, there’s a very knowledgeable man on PM who has very nicely sent me detailed info about some of my vintage bags.
Mar 02Reply
avivasue
avivasue @adventuristress And yes, very time consuming!
Mar 02Reply
adventuristress
adventuristress @avivasue Yes! That shirt was the hardest item I’ve had to price so far....i searched far & wide online & couldn’t really find much, so I did the best I could. They cared for their clothing extremely well, & the good thing about vintage items being acquired from family are that I can know those sorts of details as well as being certain there’s only been one owner, etc. Well, we’ll see how it goes! Thanks for the tips as usual 🤍

fashionfan4us
fashionfan4us (Those earrings will still sell- they aren’t a total loss! Just mention the 3 missing stones- that it’s silver original foil left behind- and they are famous designer Juliana by DeLizza and Elster from the 50’s) ❤️ Someone else can replace them; I just am not able. They are my favorite designer to collect because of their construction.
