twistedohana Angela, I just saw your review and am so sorry to hear about the hat.I am not sure what happened as it was brand new and I inspect everything before it goes out one last time.We did have some pretty bad wildfires here in Portland and I know some things absorbed some smoke so maybe that was the odor? I take every sale & customer very seriously no matter how big or small - is there anything I can do? I have one more of those berets , maybe that one is in better shape? ~Amy
