I’m a women’s portrait photographer, a devoted Mom to my two endlessly entertaining frou frou dogs, River and Nixie, a lover of all things green and someone who’d rather read a good book than just about anything else. Nixie—the apricot dog—is a pomapoo—and she’s a a handful at only 7 pounds—can’t imagine dealing with a larger version of it! ;). (I bet it’s well worth it, though!). (And yes, that’s my home—it’s full of green and textures, just the way I like it! :))

I really wanted a small dog but he’s the love of my life (and yes a total handful you have no idea)!! What breed is the other one? I would love to have my house like that but he likes to chew on everything! 🤣

liralyn @nat4fash HAHAHAHAHA!!! Yep, I can TOTALLY believe you’ve got trouble with a capital “T” on your hands!!! 50lbs is not very “mini” at all!!! Poodle mixes are so cute—but definitely high energy! There is a LOT to be said for a toy dog, but whatever you get, they’re the love of your life anyway—that’s dogs for ya! :). Fortunately, neither of mine were ever chewers. :). Oh—and the white dog, River, is a shichon or “Teddy Bear”—half bichon, half shih tzu. He’s a momma’s boy, big time!!! :)

shopvenusrising @liralyn lol yes I had no idea what I was getting into 😂 My sister is allergic to most dogs so we’ve only ever had Wheaton terriers because they’re hypoallergenic and when we found out most poodle mixes are as well I wanted some kind of doodle!! Wow I’ve never heard of a shichon before but he is beyond adorable!! 🥰

liralyn @nat4fash Wheatons are GORGEOUS!!!!!! They’re bigger than I want to deal with in a condo...but their fur—well, hair, since they’re hypoallergenic! ;)—is to DIE for!!! :). Shichons (or teddy bears or zuchons—all the same thing) are also hypoallergenic, btw, and are known for their sweet and gentle temperament. And at 13 pounds, Riv’s still small enough to pick up easily. He goes everywhere with me—loves shopping, driving, meeting people... (Nixie gets car sick, so has to stay home. :/)

shopvenusrising @liralyn my mom now refuses to get any dog that isn’t a Wheaton they’re so soft and look like giant teddy bears! We almost took home a bichon (that was my dream dog) until we fell in love with our wheatons! I wish I could take my doodle everywhere with me but he gets car sick as well! And obviously he’s a little big... and a bit of a barker 😂

liralyn @nat4fash ROFL!!! I think the barking may be a poodle thing—my Nixie is VERY yappy!!! She has an opinion about EVERYTHING and is not afraid to share it! ;) Your baby is still young, though—and many dogs grow out of being car sick...and chill out a bit, when they age a little—so maybe you’ll eventually be able to take him with you places—if not everywhere, at least SOME places! :). I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you! :)

shopvenusrising @liralyn I think it is 😂 Every time I take him to the dog park I always know when a doodle is coming in because they have the same bark! He’s big but he yaps like a little dog!! 😂😂 I’ve already seen him slightly improving and he enjoys his car rides now as long as they’re under 10 minutes!
