Why did the calculators not work for you

One of the calculators works fine, but the one that you have pictures with the 9's on the screen does not work at all. We tried putting new batteries in and setting it, but it continues to look the same with with a weird bar code looking thing and the 9's. I specifically asked if both were in good working condition, because of the way the calculator looked in the picture you posted.
