sargebill @cleopatra977 Hi ya, went to bed early, well not early early had to go check on my neighbor, poor thing, old lady and her family don't even visit her, I never forgot my mom and dad, always went to sit with em, I love it when an elderly person's face light's up when I go see them, even just a hi, good morning etc can make a person's day. Puppies playing, chasing Masie and Chuck all over, Masie's the mom, very protective of em.

sargebill Oh hey, you're in Macon Ga. ? I know that entire state, used to visit the Chickamauga Battlefield every weekend, my grandmom took her WAC basic at Ft. Oglethorp in WWll, before I joined the Army I was in Local 43, we had a shop from Rossville, there was a little resturaunt there, Roy's Café, great food just outside the battlefield, they can keep Atlanta though, miss an exit on I 75 and your day is ruined, lol sorry about your mom, hope all's well with ya.

I snooped into a German coastal bunker, found a spent U.S. .45 cal round, that thing hit something hard. going to a histoian's convention tomorrow, in full WWl U.S Army uniform, 102 y/o wool uniform w/ full equipment, gas mask in the carrier too. sargebill @jpgf119 Mom and dad had 2 good friends Mary and Karl Schroeder, professional antiques/art dealers, Karl was pure German, his dad was WWl German Army, I was playing in his shed one day found his dad's German helmet, played in the dirt w/ it, well, Karl didn't get mad just alarmed, then he showed me his saber, pistol and pics of his dad. I was the only person allowed in his study after that day.

sargebill @stewardcindy1 I managed to trace my family tree, got the crest, dates back to William of Normandy 1066 Normandy, Fr., the one who really inspired me in joining up was Uncle Ray. all paratrooper, WWll, Korea and 2x Vietnam ending up w/ DIVARTY (division artillery), mom's mom was a WAC in WWll, tough old bird too, tall, thin, blue eyes/blk hair but look, could stand up to any man alive., lol women were tough back then, they had to be.

aprettyflamingo I went to an auction in PA last weekend that was full of incredible military items, mainly WWII, mainly German. There was actually a hush in the room as the three or four people who came specifically for the items threw out some large numbers. There were also about 4 people on the phone. I wish I could have gotten them to the side to find out the real story on some of the items. It was packed, and they weren't staying beyond those items.

On one walk he spotted a piece of furniture, but then saw a shiny object next to it: a purple heart...in the trash. My friend framed it, put it over his desk and every so often he writes about "Lloyd" the recipient of the purple heart. It always makes me tear up.

sargebill @sheenateopaco I use evaporated milk w/ the egg wash, then regular flour, forcing the chopped steak into the egg wash then the same into the flour, it gets messy now so have warm soapy water ready. Have your frying pan w/ oil on high, I add the meat into brown gravy sometimes, and for breakfast, Jimmy Dean sausage fried down loose, added into white gravy over biscuits

sargebill @sheenateopaco And marinate the meat, especially beef 12 hrs. in Italian dressing, worchesterschire sauce and meat tenderizer. For chicken I always buy the boneless/skinless chincken breasts. Oh and when you take up the meat from the fryer, have a load of paper towels on a plate to soak up excess oil. Now you can serve the steak w/o gravy too, steak fingers w/ a white gravy and Texas Toast and fries is good too

A group of ministers saw I was having trouble so , in thier suits, heaved that jeep back onto the dolly, it was mid summer too and hot. Had it 2 wks, everyone drove it but me, I peeped around town wearing my uniforms, the older vets loved it, told ya I'm a ham, haha

sargebill @bnkeeley thank you so much, my collections have grown since I was 5,my Indochina (Vietnam) collection starts with the Japanese occupation of Hanoi to the 1975 u.s.withdrawl. My WW2 display is huge. Way too much to even list, It's amazing on how well preserved 300 y/o uniforms,flags,maps,etc...are. I actually fired my M1859 sharps carbine,dated 1861,a blank powder charge only. Trying to find the Krag carbine m1896, $$$$$$ though.

sargebill @bnkeeley You should read the memoirs,men describing battlefield conditions,field hospitals, etc...,hair raising. my dad bought his cousins M1 Carbine for me over 30 yrs ago,he hip fired it keeping a can rolling uphill, my cousin has his dad's Japanese Arisaka type 95 rifle and bayonet, still trying to talk him out of it.

sargebill @bnkeeley I grew up around vets,vet's, barbershop listening to em,my uncle Ray caught all 3 wars WW2,korea and Vietnam, all paratrooper and his uniform was immaculate! traced my ancestors down to William of normandy 1066.one of my barbershop was a tanker,his 1st and last battle was kasserine Tunisia, blown out of his light tank. Ray was caught in a tree in normandy, over the Rhine his glider crashed in the river.

sargebill @bnkeeley dad never spoke of korea much, he was combat engrs.Army, turned 18 on a pontoon bridge. Ray always wore a long sleeve shirt buttoned up, I found out why too when we took a drive to see him. he loved his garden and yard, look talk about scars,he was at first in the 82d abn.div, Sicily and Salerno Italy, then the 101 for DDay and market garden (holland) then into Germany. Vietnam 2x with the 101 again.

He refused to ever drive again after coming back from the war because his vehicle was blown up, killing his best friend and everyone in the vehicle, but him and he was driving. He said it was one of the most traumatizing experiences of the war. I can’t even fathom going through these experiences.

France then the pacific.

We just rescued a dog from Azerbaijan, his leg was had been filet down to bone and left for dead. He had to have his one leg amputated, but he hasn’t lost his spirit! We also have three rescue cats!

My grandmother was with the 91st evac hospital in Belgium, 1944.they broke camp when the tanks busted the U.S. lines. My shop teacher in h.s.was 28th Div. Inf.he got captured, had a lugar on him, he found it, the Germans beat him bloody.

Yes, she saw a lot being a nurse, our tankers caught it bad,the burn units were packed with casualties. Next valentine's day is the day,so I'm letting her plan it the way she wants.I should wear my dress blues.

sargebill @maxwellestate it mounts a .50 cal heavy m.g, a display gun only, non firing, I hated being assigned to those monsters, head space and timing for the bolt and barrel, a pain, and the barrel alone is 80 lbs. I never got that jeep stuck, low 1st or reverse, crawled right out of the sloppiness, Georgia red mud. I'm restoring it in original 1943 paint cans sealed in wax, the body's coming in from Ohio complete unissued. got the tires already

Samantha looks just like her but she's letting her hair go a beautiful ash gray, funny how two totally different people can have the same features, if I put Samantha in army WAC khakis, took a black and white photo, she would be Margaret's double if she dyed her hair. sargebill @graykitten Good morning ,I've been collecting militaria since I was around 5,things were given to me, found an original WW2 Enlisted man's foot locker complete in a junk pile, memoirs from flea markets, diaries, etc. We have to remember our past to have a future, I teach military history to national guard units in uniform, they never even heard of WW2.

sargebill @graykitten I put gun locks on all my firearms, one grabbed a bayonet, dropped it right into an antique display case.They don't care just as you said it right.i wear white cotton gloves handelling things as not to cause any corrosion/damage. I go into the drill hall yelling in the languages I'm representing, one asked me why I'm so dirty in appearance, shaving wasn't on the keeping alive list and laundromats weren't on battlefields

She told me about a POW German officer,spoke perfect English she met Bob Hope and Jerry Colona. Told me she heard someone say to her if she needs anything let them know, it was Gen Bradley helping the staff clean the equipment

sargebill @graykitten She was the best, dad's car gave out, told us to take her to the Chrysler dealership, wrote out a check for a brand new car for us, paid in full. it was uncle Ray, now that man was all paratrooper, 3 wars , 35 yrs. retired SGM, his Class As blinded ya, never cussed, loved his yardwork and gardens, always smiling, gave dad 200.00 Christmas money. Dad did plumbing work for him one wknd., Ray made him take 500.00 cash

graykitten Such a blessing for your family to have had financial help back then in those days. I remember stories of my grandmother who lived in Boone County West Virginia she was one of the first to have electric put in her home ,her husband my granddad Was a conductor on the railroad. So my grandma was blessed, to have money in her sock most of the time and was able to get some of what she wanted, she really liked her kitchen stuff. ❤️ I just love to hear old those stories.

sargebill @graykitten they were good people, raised hard, mom's brother uncle Bob and aunt opal, loved jokes, she was as ugly as used soap but a good person, loved her makeup too Bob was 15 dec 8 1941 joined the navy, 2 ships sunk, Korean War, army medic, his butt shot off trying to save an orphan.He loved his fried eggs with hot sauce and ketchup. Aunt opal could cook anything, could make a meal from nothing.

They loved life,worked hard, mom was 14 lied of her age to work in the defense plant of ALCOA aircraft plant, certified crane operator til they found out of her age,laid her off with full benefits 1944.

mini_ritz Hi, I started with Poshmark in June 2021. I reached Posh Ambassador level pretty quickly, but I’m so lost. I would love to participate in the Host Parties but don’t know how. How can I get involved so that one of my items in my closet gets picked as a “Host Pick”? Aside from sharing my closet, how can I increase my exposure?
