somesojourner @chrissylynn71 oh I know, it's beautiful and you did a great job! I'm sure this is something a healthy person wouldn't even think about disclosing, but it smells VERY strongly of some sort of fragrance - like maybe it was sprayed or soaked with something heavily scented like febreeze or a cleaning product etc? Anyway whatever it was, I can't be anywhere near it (asthma) so it is utterly unwearable for me unless I can get the fragrance out. Any ideas or should I just send it back?

somesojourner @chrissylynn71 it's not unusual for a used item to have a bit of a smell from other homes and detergents and such, and I've always been able to remove anything like that with a couple washings, but this particular fragrance is REALLY pungent and super stubborn. So far washing is not making a dent in it so I'm not sure what the best thing to do is. It's getting cold where I am so I gotta figure this out soon one way or another if I want to stay warm ;) hehe.

chrissylynn71 @somesojourner I am dumbfounded that there is a smell that is bad. I have 5 star rating always and never had any complaint. I am not sure what smell would be on the coat. I am a smoke free and pet free home, brand new built for over a year. So, I am not sure what you are wanting done. Please let me know.

somesojourner @chrissylynn71 I hope you are not offended, I believe that you are doing a good job and I don't mean to suggest otherwise. It's not a bad smell in the way that smoke etc is, it is just a chemical that is not safe for my particular body and that I didn't expect to be there. So I'm thinking I can continue trying to get the fragrance out for a few days, and hopefully that will work, but if not, I will want to return the jacket so I can get one that I can wear. Thanks for your cooperation! :)

somesojourner Welp, washing it tore it, so it is dead now, R.I.P. I used the delicate cycle too. Very disappointed :(.

chrissylynn71 @somesojourner I was concerned with you washing it because there is a photo that shows it is dry clean only and Do not wash. The chemical smell was probably from dry cleaning. That is all I can think. I am sorry.

somesojourner @chrissylynn71 thank you, I appreciate that. That makes sense, I forgot some of them use some sketchy chemicals during the process. Will chalk it up to a lesson learned and now I'll know to inquire about prior cleaning methods the next time I buy secondhand online.
