brikris Hello! We might be soul mates - i love everything in your closet!! I was actually researching selling some of my vintage art and homegoods and saw that you carry quite a bit of non-clothing items, too. Do the standard shipping labels typically work for your larger items or do you charge the standard and just cover anything "extra" for oversized? How does this work? Id love some tips!

lloydnoble @brikris Hi there! Thank you for the kind words. It has been my experience that the larger and heavier home items are a problem. POSHMARK has a limit of 5 lbs (including box and shipping supplies) that is covered under their standard label fee (paid by buyer, unless you as the seller offer discounted or free shipping). Any items that exceed 5lbs will require you to upgrade your shipping label. This weight cannot exceed 10lbs (including box and supplies). A 10lb upgrade costs you $19.95.

lloydnoble This makes selling larger items very difficult. We live in a time where people want free shipping and can get upset when you don’t offer it. This is in addition to POSHMARK commission on items sold and any discounts or offers. It’s also my experience that a lot of people want “yard sale” type prices and I can’t offer that. There are other platforms available that may be better suited to your needs.

lloydnoble It is definitely a learning process and the minute I think I’ve figured out the market, it changes on a dime. What sells great one month- tanks the next. It’s been pretty positive overall for me in the year that I’ve been doing it but sales, especially as of late, at least for me, have been very slow. It’s a lot of work sometimes for very little money- but I am holding out hope that it will pick up again.

I have noticed the same boom and bust - it seems to have a monthly spike in activity and then nothing. the shipping and commissions can definitely impact this but from what research I have done Posh is the best place for these types of sales (others charge up to 50% commission!!). I have been trying to drive traffic from FB as well. We shall see. Keep it up! You have great finds!
