To be very honest, I tried to purchase this from another seller last year. it arrived in shards.
When I was an active seller on PM and in all of my house moves, I learned that the best way to send fragile items is to make sure that:
* the item is packed with bubbles and newspapers and old catalogs and whatever you have laying around. it might not look great, but it works.
* the item has to be packed securely in the box. The woman who send me the platter last year used a huge box, but,

it floated around inside and was not packed securely within the box and just smashed into a million pieces
* the platter should be secure, but not so jam packed that if something hits the sides, it doesn't shatter, like, if you drop your phone and the screen shatters even though you have a case around it

* what I am trying to say is that you need to fashion a big "bumper" like on a car. that's why the newspaper and magazines catalogs and bubble wrap can be very useful to create the "bumper".
