trixielea Hi, Catina. I received the Caribbean Joe handbag yesterday and loved it as noted by my rating and comment, however, upon further inspection, I notice a very distinct odor! It really smells bad, so much so that I can't imagine ever carrying it! Because of the beading on the front I don't know how it can be cleaned. This makes me really sad. Do you know what may have happened to it? Thanks for helping me figure this out!

catinagrimala @trixielea Oh gosh!! I'm so sorry! I normally will put dryer sheets in hand bags, the night before shipping them, so they smell of fabric sheets/ have a fresh smell upon arrival. It should fade in a couple of days but I've received a few comments that not everyone likes that. Do you think that's what it could be?

trixielea @catinagrimala No, it definitely isn't that. I found a dryer sheet in one of the inside pockets and it smelled very nice. It smells mildewy, especially around the front top closure. I thought maybe you could give me insight as to what it could possibly be so I can attempt to fix it?

catinagrimala @trixielea Terri, I have no idea why it would smell that way, I received it as a gift but I have so many purses in my collection that I decided to downsize. The purse you purchased has never been used. I have a home office where I keep all of my posh items in a clean, dry, organized area ....the only thing I can think of is it has been raining alot in Tennessee, so much so that our area has been declared a state of Emergency.

catinagrimala @trixielea You can google to see photographs of Savannah TN...The package may have suffered some type of water damage while in transit. It's the only thing that would make since to me. I'm not sure if you can file a damage claim or not. I have no idea how to go about cleaning an item that smells like mildew. This purse was in excellent/ like new condition when it was shipped???
