4_good_stuff Hello! We had Siberian Huskies as granddogs for about 15 years. It was a wonderful day when our son was transferred to Albuquerque with his job and could not take the granddog. She always wanted to be ours, and, yay!!, she has been our dogter for about eight years. Amazing dogs!! TMI. We’ve loved all our rescues over the years, but she is something special. Holly

5huskymom we love them. we are down to our last one she is 13 yrs old. lost 2 last year so that put a hold on my closet for the year. lost our boy in feb suddenly and our girl in oct. she was 18yrs and 3 months and he was 16yrs. thank you for your comment. siberian huskies do keep us on our feet. haha.

5huskymom @julieandkim im so sorry for your loss. i lost my old girl in oct she was 18.3 years old and her brother in feb last year he was 16yrs. we have only one left. they are not for everyone. yes their cute but lots of work. very smart. mine knew how to roll down car windows get the front gate open. if your ok with dog hair year round on everything. there is shedding year round. they can be noisy and demanding. but honestly i miss that. i didnt mind. they were my kids. the house is now to quiet.

julieandkim @5huskymom Thank you for your response. Yours lived long lives. The literature I have read says they only live 10-12 years. I am glad that isn’t the case always. Losing our pets never gets easier. I have struggled for a year now. I think the older you get the harder. This is the first time in my life that I haven’t had a dog,cat ,horse,etc. to love. One last question, are huskies prone to certain diseases or other problems? One article said they have eye trouble. Take care. Julie

5huskymom @julieandkim no they can live way longer. I've known alot that's passed around 15 to 20 yrs. we've only had one that passed at 13yrs because of a heart issue from birth. his sister was 16 yrs could have lived longer but cancer came back and her hips were bone to bone.

judijoc Hi! I had to comment on you being a husky mom! I grew up with 2 Siberian Huskies. Mika and Kasha! My dad and I raced them with sleds and when there was no snow, a wheeled rig. We live in PA so snow happens or it doesn’t. Anyway, amazing, amazing dogs ! My dad really put so much time into training them (I was young at the time). Thanks for following my closet.

judijoc We had 2 dogs and that is what I raced. My dad usually raced 5, 6 or 7 dogs. Harvey Small was one of the owners of some dogs and we also occasionally ran an Old English Sheep dog!! what great memories. I will ask my dad if he every ran in Poconos

judijoc @starwild18235 we were a part of the Delaware valley Siberian Husky club. He just told me that he raced in Harrisburg and Chesapeake Canal (& Wissahickon). I don’t think you were born at that time!!! 50 years ago!! lol!

5huskymom @luv4friends thank you for the nice note. it was alot of work with 5 huskies 2 cats and a lizard. but we are down to just 1 husky left. losing them all has been real hard thou. its so quiet around here. but i do miss all the talking from them and they were a joy to have. i sometimes dont know what to do. love your closet also.

5huskymom so sorry for your loss of your pup. we are actually down to our last one she 13yrs. its an adjustment from 5 to 1. we lost 2 last year feb and oct 2023. they were 16 and 18 . . its hard not having that noise in house. love your closet.
