grojivxatu @cburkeht When a ring is resized down, the jeweler cuts out the extra material from the bottom and solders the ends back together. ... But stretching it makes the ring thinner and weakens it. Another factor in resizing a ring up is the placement of its stones.

grojivxatu @cburkeht Essentially, resizing a ring too far from your ring size can damage the ring. Additionally, the style of ring and ring metal will affect whether or not it can be resized

grojivxatu @cburkeht Simply sizing the ring one size lower could cost you $30 and 70.00 for a 14kt white gold ring. A sizing job going one size larger would start at around $90.00. This pricing is taking into account just sizing, polishing, and rhodium plating. Any more than that and it is too much stress on the rings with natural stones, which could cause them to bend or crack.
