myrandaposh @dani102711 I lost two last year. Of old age thank god. I’m grateful I got to rescue them and give them one home for their whole lives and I know “it’s about them” but OMG did it go too fast. I didn’t think I would ever pick myself up off the vets floor. So sorry for your loss.

dani102711 @pcb_closet omg I know. I cried more at the vet and in my car after, and over the next few days than I have for some humans that have passed. It’s really crazy how fast it seemed to go and how big a part they play in our lives. It felt like losing a child. I’ve second guessed whether I could have done more to save him... but I realize now that it’s the depression talking.

dani102711 I still have three more pups and one is new but the other two I’ve had even longer than Dexter, 11 & 12 years! So I’m in for more heartache. Just happy to have gotten to love them while I could.

myrandaposh @dani102711 Just tell yourself that all of that pain is simply the price you paid to give them a great life and all of those good days. That didn’t hurt him. It’s your burden FOR him. When you start to think of that pain as an inevitable sacrifice for their happy lives it feels better. Less than half of dogs get to live their life out with their person or have someone that loved them enough to grieve.He does! You did it mama! & when you are ready you will do it again.
