@artnfireparis 🦎They freerange in the sunroom/plant room during day but I have to babysit them or they’ll fight. When the weather’s over 70*, I take 3@ a time for an hour or 2 in their shower outside. I have to watch to make sure they don’t run off to the surrounding trees.
Im thinking they’ll either euthanize your iguanas (they consider them an invasive species in FL). They may let reptile sellers round them up to sell elsewhere in the US, hopefully!😉Good luck w/your farm plans!

@chamlover so damned you do have a lot of work doing all this. My cats don't always get along too. I guess it's like us. As to the iguanas I think you're right. It's sad. They do nothing wrong. But people don't like them. And I'm totally hopeless as regards a farm. Maybe a miracle will happen. I have to be positive as my friends tell me. Let's see-)))))))

@artnfireparis My species of chameleon, Jackson’s, was also an invasive species in FL (& in Hawaii) I think FL mostly eradicated them. To catch them go out after dark & look in trees for a pale green fist sized semicircle. Now you have to watch for anacondas & pythons in the swamps!

I brought some birds home. Once I even brought a seagull. That was so funny to watch this. Again if I had a house I would help way more. Lately I've been seeing raccoons at some places where I feed. Possums like cat food too but people don't like possums.

I don't know much about raccoons. The one I saw at my colony was huge, maybe a mama raccoon and was up in the tree. Apparently they like cat food. One of my outdoor cats used to fight with possums.

@artnfireparis No problem! I actually fell asleep when I was responding about how the males let the female be the boss and are so gentle. When they are out they girls make the boys crawl underneath the vine to pass by while they stay on top. Fred I had passed (they only live 5 yrs- girls less!) now one of the Covid babies is Fred.

@chamlover lol it has happened to me too. I fell asleep while sharing. 5 years is short. A lot of people tell me that the life expectancy for a stray cat is no more than 7. I've lost a few who were younger.
As to Fred, do you mean he was born during covid or do you mean he got it ? I read some dogs and cats and other animals had had it. I don't know if chameleons can catch it. I believe they can. But I have to research. I hope not.

I've done fostering. One of the hardest thing I ever did. Maybe you're better than me on that too and can let them go. Once I bring an animal in, it's very difficult for me to give it away. Hopefully all my foster dogs and cats are happy and having a good life.

@artnfireparis No Fred didn’t have Covid, he died of a seizure when his step babies were 3 months old. I had bought him a girlfriend Jan. 2020 who, unbeknownst to me, was gravid. She had HER babies the week after Covid shut Pa. down. I could go to a reptile show and sell the now young adults (14 months) for $150 each but we can’t part w/them<3 because at 3-4 months their personalities develop & make you love them!

@artnfireparis The brand was good, shoes were unworn and in pristine ‘looking’ condition. The leather was supple & I had worn out the EXACT same pair. It’s the age and partially storage conditions. Some of the man made foam and rubber parts deteriorate invisibly. Happened w/a pair of Clark’s also, the thick cushy foam in the insole turned to powder the 1st wearing and sunk into the hard plastic framework of the heel!

@artnfireparis Omg, yesterday the strangest bug fell on me, it reminded me of your swinging phasmid but it was micro!!! I brushed what I thought was a tiny gnat sized piece of pollen from my shirt. It landed on my arm & I took a real close look as I saw it moving. It was a fluorescent greenish yellow triangle except for black eyes on stalks. Looked like an alien cartoon character swaying side to side staring at me! Then it blew/flew up my nose!!! I blew it out right in the front yard!

@chamlover funnily when i was in my shower, there was something strange stuck on my hip. It looked like a piece of cookie or something like that but when I removed it, I was bleeding. I googled your bug description and I found that: green stink bug.

This is the closest I could find Bourletiella arvalis except these eyes don’t stick out as much. It was real tiny like 1mm. That stink bug is 200 times bigger.
When it was dancing it held the front legs up like it was begging.

As I was sharing your closet, I was wondering how long chameleons live. It's apparently different from the species. And like cats or other animals, it's longer indoor than outdoor. A street cat life expectancy is about 5/7 years old. An indoor one is 15 to 20 yo.

@artnfireparis 🦎😔My type only live about 5 years, a little less for the females (reproductive issues) or in the wild. When you buy them they are almost always wild caught (captive breeding is supposedly difficult & costly) and their age is unknown. Catch-22, the better their habitat, the more often they produce ovum 30+. They have either live birth or slugs if not bred.🦎

@nwto 🦎👋 We only have 8 now. 5 are the covidbabies, born a week after shutdown, 4 boys, 1 girl. They are 2 years 3 months old.
We have Solo who is 18 months, born prematurely to to Big Mama, a Covid girl who died in childbirth.
Then we bought 2 girls recently to take some of the stalking stress from Sides, our only Covid girl left! Now the 3 girls get out to unreachable areas every day. The boys take turns having a day out. (They will fight)🦎

@nwto 🦎🥰The girls don’t fight but Stormy shows her teeth if one of the other girls (or boys) try to enter her cage❣️Honey, the smallest, will actually walk over the largest chams to get where she wants!🦎

@nwto I don’t think she knows she’s tiny! I don’t even think the boys have 🥜 but they do have 2 hemi - penes! Lol. The girls, if they’ve had a male just once, they can fertilize themselves every 2-3 months!
