I am first generation American Slovakian Roma. I created DivochDcera after the passing of my mother. She was a strong independent beautiful and truly enchanting woman! She could walk into any room, covered in the remains of her latest project, and capture the hearts of all present. Her laughter was one of pure carefree joy. A distinct laughter that started at her toes, animated through her body and ended in ears of the furthest person. Enchanting! She was Enchanting! To have known her was an honor and a life changing wild ride. Her nickname “gypsy boots” captured her free spirit of our Slovakian Roma culture. With honor, the nickname was passed to me. I can not take ownership of that nickname, it belongs to her. I am my mother’s daughter. DivochDcera translates to Savage Daughter, which is a saying that my daughter, Lindsay, used to describe me. It is how my daughter sees me. As I see my mother as “GypsyBoots”, my daughter sees me as “DivochDcera”. Live anyway you’d like. It is your adventure. And yours only. This life is an adventure.
