lorac2015 @ecf2xtreme ok you read about the very end edge of strap right? doesn't affect anything. I was gonna have the cobbler cut edge off but didn't ever bother me. not seen

ecf2xtreme @lorac2015 thank you, I did see it. And I agree with you, it doesn’t show under the strap. Instead of a cobbler, I’m going to use a dab of E500 and glue it to the strap. 😉

ecf2xtreme @lorac2015 I’ll send you a pic when I’m done. You won’t even be able to tell. I’ve tacked a couple of keeper straps down that way, on bags I carry a lot. I have a Coach factory Dinky/penny knockoff I almost wore the shoulder straps off of and I fixed them with the E500. You can’t even tell unless you’re up close. And that one’s not especially important or valuable so I don’t mind wearing it out.

ecf2xtreme @lorac2015 Hey... so that red bag isn’t red. Or wasn’t. Someone did a dye job on it, and not a very good one. The dye started coming off on my hands. So I tried conditioning with leather honey and it bled out. Its nice and supple, and not red.

ecf2xtreme @lorac2015 Yeah, the Bonnie. My best guess is that someone tried to cover up how dirty the bag was. It was most likely English Tan.

ecf2xtreme When the color started coming off on my hands, I wiped it down all over with a soft cloth and the color just wiped off. The color didn’t take at all because they didn’t clean the dirt off first. And probably not great dye.

lorac2015 this is horrifying I would never have suspected it being dyed. what about the inner band with the metal tag & then the madras lining...hard to imagine getting all that done without problem. and the straps???

ecf2xtreme I have pictures to send you. You can see where the stitching took the color differently. Here’s the kicker: the handles weren’t dyed. They still have white stitching. Anyway I gave it some more love today and it IS looking better. Orange, tho. Not red.

lorac2015 @ecf2xtreme deff never tan!! I talked to the original collector whom I bought it from. she owned it & never dyed it, said that orangish red waz org color. I said vermillion cause Vermilion Hue is a bright orange red colour.

ecf2xtreme @lorac2015 You could be right and I’m not upset at you or anything. But, it was definitely treated or colored with something—coach bags are colorfast. That poor bag bled like a crime scene. Like I said though, I’m not mad or going to get bitchy. And the geo roll cleaned up like new. It looks fantastic and everyone I’ve shown it to wants it. Fat chance, lol. 🙂
