asbrandley @kcrowley2307 hello!! Yes, I was wondering the same thing the first time I saw that. I dove in to researching vintage Louis Vuitton that dated 1980 and before and that is exactly what I found with that wallet. The really cool thing that I found in my research is how ‘thin and lightweight’ the leather feels in the vintage leather. It almost felt like silk to me. I knew I needed to baby it because of the age.

asbrandley @lulubud68 Thank you for asking because we all need to stick together trying to get the scammers off of here!! This case is not a scammer though. I did purchase this and also her Neverfull but I had to cancel the Neverfull purchase. She wasn’t happy about that and thought me paying $400 for the wallet wasn’t enough so she then canceled that order on me. I now she is asking $418. Drama over $18. 🙄 Alll in all I think you are safe buying it.

asbrandley @mrsmontelongo Thank you for your note!! The most important thing to be careful about when caring for your canvas is not to get anything on the fragile vachetta!! So often I see bags where the vachetta has been touched with a product and it gets discolored while ‘conditioning’ the canvas. You may be surprised to hear that the coated canvas isn’t leather. It’s fabric that has a coating of PVC plastic over it so we really can’t condition it.

asbrandley @mrsmontelongo I like to clean it with a water base product like baby wipes that are unsented and alcohol free. This won’t hurt the vacheta if touched. Just be sure to wipe all of the vachetta evenly so it doesn’t leave a water spot.

asbrandley @mrsmontelongo To answer your question about softening the canvas... I think time and wear is really the only thing that will help with that. I’ve seen some vintage canvas that is so soft and pliable unlike their new counterparts. Good luck!! ☺️

asbrandley @dbuchberg Good Morning Girlie!! Thank you so much!! I’m so excited that you have discovered the love of LV too!!! Probably the best advice I can offer is how to care for your beauties. Really the only thing we should use to clean our bags are water wipes (baby wipes that are fragrant and alcohol free). The vachetta (untreated leather) is VERY sensitive and will stain very easily!! Even water drops stain.

I was watching a video on Utube today off a cobbler replacing the Vachetta on an Alto. I was debating reaching out to him but his repair was $900. LV charges less than that!!
