Hi! I'm Jana.
In 2015 I watched the incredible documentary The True Cost about the adverse effects of the clothing industry on society & environment. I resolved to purchase only used clothing for one year, which led me to Poshmark. That was in 2015, & I since then I’ve purchased about 9% of my closet 2nd hand each year.
Lately I’ve been loving classic, timeless, minimalistic styles. The pieces in my closet are gems I found while shopping and wanted to share with others 🌿

I just saw the true cost movie too!!!!!! I'm trying to not spend money and used items also! I'm not super high on the shipping factor that probably uses a lot if petroleum but hey it's better than buying new online!!

My husband, children and I live a blessed and charmed life. Now that I (we) can 'afford' expensive things it feels abnormal. Hi there. We just saw a terrific documentary about the clothes that go first to charities in the U.K. and then are taken by the millions of pieces to Ghana, where there is a thriving business buying and selling "dead white people's clothing." The impact on local textile and clothing design and production has been horrendous! Cheap, predominantly Chinese clothes moving around the globe. I posted a whole list of brands I do not buy and sell. Check out my statement!!!

I think making small changes really does add up so consuming less new and more preowned is something I feel good about. I would love a "capsule wardrobe" but I'm finding it hard to commit to certain looks and outfits...

@ltab that was my exact thinking in making the changes I have. I love meeting like minded people who are trying out the same kind of ideas. I used to spend quite a bit of money of fast fashion type clothing, yet I was unhappy with my wardrobe. One thing I’ve found from second hand shopping is it makes me have to be more conscious and intentional in putting my ear foe together. By no means do I have it perfected yet. I’m still working on the capsule concept also!

I do my own listing. I find photo taking the most time consuming aspect, so I photograph large quantities of clothing on certain days and post items whenever I have downtime throughout the week.

@designinpink For host picks, I go to future parties, find the hosts, then go to their closets and ask them to consider me for host picks. Personally, I do not believe host picks speed up the sale of an item in and of itself, but it can give your item extra exposure through increased shares to potential buyers!

My men's closet immediately follows my womens things where you can access it through the three bars at the top of my closet. I've been closed due to a shoulder replacement and have just reopened.
