acomfycupoftea Hi Jessica! I just wanted to stop by and welcome you to poshmark ๐Ÿ˜Š It's a great place to shop fantastic deals or earn some extra money as a side hustle. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions ๐Ÿ˜„
Sep 08Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 Absolutely! And I truly do mean it when I say to reach out if you have any questions ๐Ÿ˜„ I've been buying off pm for a few years now and started selling in January. I understand how overwhelming it can be ๐Ÿ˜… Wishing you the best of luck๐Ÿ’› teresa
Sep 08Reply
juniper878
juniper878 @acomfycupoftea yeah it definitely is overwhelming. Iโ€™m really just trying to make some extra money for new kids clothes and some soccer lessons for my three year old. Heโ€™s obsessed! From your experience, do you have any tips on getting posts noticed? Is it normally pretty hard to sell items?
Sep 08Reply

zueh13 Hello there!! Welcome to Poshmark, I hope you enjoy the experience of buying or selling. Good Luck โœŒ๐ŸฝZueh.

acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 That's a great idea to sell things you no longer need/love to make extra money for new kids clothes and soccer lessons! It's so sweet that your three year old is obsessed with soccer ๐Ÿ˜From my experience there are some easy ways to get posts noticed. In my opinion, some brands sell quicker than others. I've never sold things during the Christmas season, but I have heard that is the best time to sell and things definitely pick up when Christmas gets near
Sep 08Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea I'm going to send you a few posts from @peatandrepeat that I have found super helpful in getting my listings noticed on google (and sold) if that's okay! The nice thing about getting noticed on search engines like google is that the buyer is more likely to buy it outright vs you sending them a deal, so more profit for you ๐Ÿ˜„
Sep 08Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea I also think that listings get more exposure when they have a video of the item. It gets posted to your story and Poshmark pushes it to the top of the list when someone searches for the key words you used. It is almost like they prioritize/highlight listings with videos. This is something that is a great 'bang for your buck' time wise because once you take the video, it helps drive traffic to your listing even when you are not on the app sharing it to the posh parties, your followers, etc.

acomfycupoftea Your pictures look fantastic (nice and clear with good lighting!). When I started out all my picture were blurry lol! Let me know if this is too much information! I totally don't mean to spam you ๐Ÿ˜… I've been doing a lot of research on how to optimize listings and posts to increase sales and profit, so I have a lot to say lol
Sep 08Reply
juniper878
juniper878 @acomfycupoftea this is great info! Thank you so much for sharing! I didnโ€™t even think that Poshmark would post listings for Google searches so that is good to know. Itโ€™s not just localized to the Poshmark site! Iโ€™ll definitely look into all that you sent me and do some updates. And Iโ€™m glad my pictures look good lol. I tried following advice from the Poshmark site :-)
Sep 08Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 I can tell from your pictures that you've done research ๐Ÿ˜„ The poshmark site is definitely a great resource! It can also be a lot to take in!
Sep 08Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea Of course! I'm happy to help! I love sharing what I find helpful โค๏ธ If you are interested, there is a Posh Party on Sept. 16th at 9am Pacific time/12pm noon eastern time. The theme is 'Designer,' so your Coach wristlets are on par with the designer theme.
Sep 08Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea Posh Parties are great to share your listing to because it is another way to get your listing seen. PM Parties aren't the end all be all, but if it works out with your schedule, it doesn't hurt to share your listing to it. I think of them as another tool. There is a schedule and they happen regularly, so if you miss it there will always be another coming up soon ๐Ÿ™‚
Sep 08Reply
juniper878
juniper878 @acomfycupoftea that would be great! How do I get an invite? Iโ€™m planning to post more items but I havenโ€™t had the time yet this morning.
Sep 08Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 the Posh Party invitations get sent at around 10am pacific time/1pm eastern time the day before the party. On a regular web browser (vs the app) there is a 'party tab' up by the categories (like women, men, home etc.) that you click on and it show the past and upcoming parties.
Sep 08Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 It's a great question! And in the app when the party is going on, a notification pops up and you can click it to go to the party page. Today's first party is themed 'Trending' and in 15 minutes you should get the notification that the party has started ๐Ÿฅณ
Sep 08Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 they post the party schedule like every 2 weeks if you are curious or want to plan for it ๐Ÿ™ƒ https://blog.poshmark.com/posh-party-line-up/?amp
Sep 08Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 I know posting can be time consuming (or at least it is for me ๐Ÿ˜†) so my suggestion is to just post a few things every day or so. I know that if I post too many things in one day, I start to burn myself out ๐Ÿ˜…
Sep 08Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 Again, let me know if this is too much! I know it is a ton of information! The last party of the day is 7pm PT/10 pm EST and while the theme changes every day (tonight it is fashion week trends), I basically consider it a free for all because you can share anything you want to the party ๐Ÿคฉ
Sep 08Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea I live in the eastern time zone, so 10pm is a little late for me to stay up just to share things to the party (I'm usually tired way before that and ready to relax lol) but if I happen to be on my phone, I'll share my things to it.
Sep 08Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea Poshmark selects a set number of poshers to be the party 'hosts' and whatever they share are called host picks and get extra attention. They are supposed to share at least 30 items from new closets, so you can comment on their 'party sign' to ask them to feature your closet.
Sep 08Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea I can ask the hosts for tonight's party to feature your closet. That way you'll see some examples of how it goes. It doesn't guarantee that they will, but it helps them out because it can be hard sometimes to find new closets to share from ๐Ÿ™‚
Sep 08Reply
juniper878
juniper878 @acomfycupoftea Iโ€™m so grateful for all your help! Iโ€™m actually enjoying taking pictures and posting my stuff! Iโ€™m also on the east coast and have two littles at home so Iโ€™m already ready for bed at this point lol but Iโ€™d like to stay up for the party tonight and see how that goes. Maybe Iโ€™ll luck out and get featured :)
Sep 08Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 it's my pleasure! I've had a lot of help starting out! Aww having two littles is so much fun (and so tiring at the same time haha)! Fingers crossed you get featured! And no worries if you don't because there will always be another party ๐Ÿ˜‰ Next Sept. 14th is a 'Best in Bags' party at 3pm, another great party for your Coach bags!!
Sep 08Reply
juniper878
juniper878 @acomfycupoftea Iโ€™ll check it out! Actually do you mind one more question? I just tried sharing my new listing to the posh party thatโ€™s on right now. It says it shared but I donโ€™t see it when I go to the partyโ€ฆ am I doing it right?
Sep 08Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 I love questions! (Sorry for the late reply!) The party right now is Jackets and Coats themed, if the item isn't Categorized as a jacket or coat then you can try to share it to the party, but it won't show up. Just as an experiment, you can edit your skirt listing to 'Women's' then 'Jackets & Coats'. Then try sharing it to the party and see if it shows up (just remember to change it back to skirts ๐Ÿ˜†)
Sep 08Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 Longer explanation: On the poshmark web page, you can click 'share to party' and if it actually does share to the party, then "share successful" with pop up on your screen then disappear after a second. If you click 'share to party' and nothing pops up, then it means it didn't actually share (maybe it's the wrong category for that specific party theme)
Sep 08Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea If you hit 'share to party' on the poshmark app, a box will pop up and either say "share successful" or "error cannot be shared to party, does not meet guidelines." ๐Ÿ˜€ I only know this because I had the exact same question!! Lol I remember trying to share something to the Boho party and it wasn't working. Somehow I finally realized that for that specific party, it had to be a certain brand that pm considers boho ๐Ÿ˜…
Sep 08Reply
juniper878
juniper878 @acomfycupoftea oh ok, I see now. Iโ€™ll have to keep an eye out for that next time! Now Iโ€™m more excited to get started now that I understand everything a better :) you can read everything on the Poshmark site and itโ€™s helpful, but youโ€™re right, itโ€™s a lot to take in!
Sep 08Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 yay! I'm so glad ๐Ÿค— It definitely is a lot to take in! I 100% agree!
Sep 08Reply
juniper878
juniper878 @acomfycupoftea thanks for advocating for a host pick!! ๐Ÿ˜Š how long did it take for you to get your first sale and your first host pick?
Sep 10Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 Absolutely! I love helping out other poshers, especially new poshers ๐Ÿฅฐ It took me about a month to get my first sale, that's when things started to pick up! It took me a few weeks to figured what Posh parties are and that host picks are a way to get more attention. Once I started trying to get a host pick, I think it took me about a week to get a host pick. Then I started getting host picks pretty regularly.
Sep 10Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 I make sure to share like 10-20 listings from each host's closet, 'like' their party sign (the listing that advertisers that they are co-hosting,' and comment on their post. All those things help the party host know that you would love a host pick ๐Ÿ˜Š
Sep 10Reply
juniper878
juniper878 @acomfycupoftea ok! I will have to try that! I never see those listings from the hosts that show they got picked. Do I have to click on the party invite and then the hosts listed on there to see it (if that makes sense haha)?
Sep 10Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 haha! yes, that's exactly right! Some party hosts make a sign to advertise that they are co-hosting while other don't
Sep 10Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 for example, sweetheartsla has the "Best in Maternity Posh Party co-host" sign as the first listing in their closet right now. If you scroll down a little, they also have a 'Best in sweaters and tops' for Sept 18th sign
Sep 10Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea And then I couldn't find a sign in the resellthreads closet forvthe maternity party even though they are a co-host today. They might have one (and I just don't see it) or they might not have a sign. I've been a party host once and I found that having a sign made it easier for me to keep things organized and easier for other poshers to know that I was hosting. Some co-hosts choose to organize things differently than others ๐Ÿ™‚
Sep 10Reply
juniper878
juniper878 @acomfycupoftea ok! I saw one posher earlier who posted that theyโ€™re hosting a party tomorrow! I commented on it so weโ€™ll see! ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป

juniper878 @acomfycupoftea I made my first sale!! I couldnโ€™t have done it without your advice and getting me up to speed! Thanks so much for welcoming me to the fold. Getting your advice is making this whole process really fun when before it was just something to try to get extra cash. Thanks so much!! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 Yayyy! Oh my goodness!! I am so so happy for you!!! It's so so exciting!!! You've been working hard at it and absolutely deserve all the credit! Yay ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŽ‰ Lol whenever I make I sale I still want to throw confetti in the air and do a little happy dance ๐ŸŽŠ I wish I could throw confetti in the air for you (and then clean it up of course lol) ๐Ÿฅณ
Sep 12Reply
juniper878
juniper878 @acomfycupoftea lol I wanted to put some confetti in the package and I was like no, no, better not do that! Lol Iโ€™ll just use imaginary confetti! ๐Ÿ˜ oh! When you ship the package and on the order you say you shipped it, does a notification go to the buyer? Or should I send them a private message? Iโ€™m not sure that mattersโ€ฆ
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 I always have to restrain myself from putting confetti in people's packages ๐ŸŽŠ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ˜… Imaginary confetti 100% ๐ŸŽŠ ๐Ÿฅณ
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 It does send them a notification when you ship it, I still send them a message to let them know that I shipped it and it is on its way. From the feedback I have received, people appreciate it. It also helps to separate any shipping delays from you (if that makes sense) especially with all of the USPS shipping delays that are happening now. The shipping delays will also only get worse as it gets closer to Christmas
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea For example, I shipped a pacakage once the same day that a buyer purchased it (they bought it in the morning and I shipped it in the afternoon). The buyer sent me a message a few days later upset that the estimated delivery date went from Thursday to Friday. After talking with them (messaging them), it turned out that they were just super excited to receive it and disappointed that they would have to wait longer
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea They ended up leaving a great review, but I was a little worried for a minute that they would leave a negative review because of the shipping delay. Because I sent them the message saying I sent it, it was easier for me to 1) apologize for the delay and 2) for the buyer to understand that the shipping delay was on the part of the post office and not due to something I did or didn't do
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea If you ever have someone send you an unhappy message or something, you can always message me and I am super happy to help you figure out the best way to respond! It doesn't happen very often, but it really helps to have someone else 1) help you not take it personal (whenever I get a negative comment it can still throw me off, my sister helps me put it in perspective:) 2) formulate a thoughtful response
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea I hope you never recieve a negative comment, but it happens and I want you to know that I'm in your corner if that ever happens ๐Ÿ˜Š Sorry for the downer message, I just want to let you know before anything like that happens so you know that I'm here for you!!
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea More fun side note, I live in Ohio too!!! I live in Cincinnati ๐Ÿ˜Š
Sep 12Reply
juniper878
juniper878 @acomfycupoftea Nice!! We live about 20 minutes out from Cleveland in Solon ๐Ÿ˜ So I guess weโ€™re about 4 hours apart in distance! Haha thatโ€™s cool ๐Ÿ˜Š
Sep 12Reply
juniper878
juniper878 And thanks for saying that about negative reviews. I think thatโ€™s what has always held me back from selling anything at all. I worked in sales during college and it was miserable a good amount of the time especially during the holidays when people were complaining about sales and returns, etc.
Sep 12Reply
juniper878
juniper878 I didnโ€™t want that to happen when I tried selling my own things but I just have to try the best I can to be super helpful and accurate when describing my stuff and to not take it personal if I ever get a negative comment, like you said. That is definitely the hardest part! But hopefully itโ€™ll never happen! I love helping people and donโ€™t want anyone upset!
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 Yes! I have a friend who lives in Cleveland, so when I go and visit her I 'll let you know and we could grab a coffee or something! My go to a park and play a little soccer lol ๐Ÿ˜†
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 I've worked sales too and that experience kept me from from selling things online too! I was also pretty miserable when working in sales. This year I just decided to go for it (starting out small) and I braced myself for the worst. The majority of people on pm are incredibly kind and sweet! 100% absolutely like you said, it makes all the difference that I stick to my values and trying to be as open and transparent as possible!
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea It is so hard to not take things personal, but being my own boss and management on pm definitely helps (I also love that a neutral third party, pm support, is there to protect me and protect the buyers)! I can play to my strengths and do what I enjoy ๐Ÿฅฐ spending my time where I like (like talking to people lol) I also love helping people!
Sep 12Reply
juniper878
juniper878 @acomfycupoftea that sounds really great! Iโ€™m glad pm has been good to you, that gives me more hope ๐Ÿ˜† Thatโ€™s a good deal though. You get to do what you like doing and then pm can step in to take care of disputes. Thatโ€™s great because Iโ€™m not good with that, lol.
Sep 12Reply
juniper878
juniper878 And I would love to grab coffee when youโ€™re in town! Sounds great! Itโ€™s always great to make a new friend ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 Exactly ๐Ÿ™‚ I've never had anything escalate that far (calling in pm support), but I know that they are always there! I've heard some poshers grumble about pm taking 20% of each sale (it is higher than other sites), but I really don't mind because I know that pm provides that protection and other sites don't necessarily
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 Yes!!! I love making new friends too!!!
Sep 12Reply
juniper878
juniper878 @acomfycupoftea actually I just realized something. The skirt I sold was a size M and my description said fits sizes 4-6. I was a size 6 at the time I purchased it. But on the ModCloth site, a size M fits sizes 6-8. I hope that doesnโ€™t mess it up for the buyer, I feel terrible for not getting that detail correct. I feel I should message the buyer but Iโ€™m not sure what to do if she needs to return itโ€ฆ I just updated my other ModCloth skirt listing with their sizing chart and a better description.
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 I just looked at your listing that sold and because you listed the skirt as a medium and the skirt's tag says medium, you are absolutely fine! I wouldn't worry about messaging the buyer unless you really want to
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 Sizing (4-6 vs 6-8) honestly differs depending on the brand of clothing. A "6" in Banana Republic fits differently than a "6" in Old Navy. Most likely (because they didn't ask for measurements or ask further questions about sizing) the buyer is familiar with the Modcloth brand and already knows that a Modcloth medium is their size
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea I know it isn't vintage, but vintage sizing is usually way off current sizing.
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea I also accidentally sold something that I wrote conflicting sizing in the description. The buyer never said anything about that, they left a five star review. It definitely put me into a panick though, so now I am extra cautious and take pictures of Clothes with a measuring tape/ruler. Sometimes I forget, but usually I remember
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea It also helps because if someone is curious about the sizing (shrank in the wash, runs true to size, etc.) then they can check the measurements against something that they have, is similar, and they love the fit of. I also take a picture of the sizing tag (which you already do because you are super amazing ๐Ÿค—)
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea Under the poshmark guidelines, technically a person can't return something if it doesn't fit. The fit of the garment is not the responsibility of the posher, it is the responsibility of the buyer.
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea You did exactly what I would do (and did when that happened to me), you updated the other listings and double checked the listings you already posted ๐Ÿ˜Š
Sep 12Reply
juniper878
juniper878 @acomfycupoftea ok phew! You took the weight off my shoulders lol. I was like oh noโ€ฆ on my first sale too. Iโ€™m glad I at least added the sizing tag picture and added the size on the title and description! Now I know for the future! Yeah I was definitely in a panic ๐Ÿ˜ฑ haha
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 I've definitely been there ๐Ÿ˜… I'm so glad that I could be of help!
Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 You are doing so so good! Honestly your styling pictures are gorgeous ๐Ÿ˜ Very professional! You have a great eye for style! It's a really great touch to style with other things you have for sale too! Pro poshers do that ๐Ÿคฉ
Sep 12Reply

Sep 12Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 Yes! Most definitely ๐Ÿค—
Sep 12Reply
juniper878
juniper878 @acomfycupoftea another question for ya! ๐Ÿ˜Š what happens when someone adds an item from my closet to their bundle? Iโ€™m not sure if I have to do anythingโ€ฆ or I have to wait for them to do something? Lol I donโ€™t know whatโ€™s the right etiquette here! ๐Ÿง
Sep 15Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 Great question! Usually it means they are interested in buying the item and I take it as a sign that they would like your to make them an offer (versus them making the first move with sending an offer). From the Posh etiquette guides that I have read, it is 100% okay to send them an offer and some sort of message. I'll send you the message that I use! Feel free to use it yourself verbatim, change it to fit your custom closet, etc.
Sep 15Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 One of my messages (themes? idk) I try to instill in my closet is no pressure to buy anything, ever. My experience working in sales made this something I chose to build my pm closet on. I disliked it when management pushed me to make sales. I never want to make anyone feel pressured to buy anything. Some people feel differently and run their closets which is 100% cool. I'm glad that they found what right for them
Sep 15Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea I don't mean to go on a soapbox lol ๐Ÿ˜† It took me awhile to figure out my message to send people who make bundles, so I'm sure you'll go through several variations before you find something that is just right for you ๐Ÿ™‚
Sep 15Reply
juniper878
juniper878 @acomfycupoftea I agree! Thatโ€™s why I love your message. I hated pressuring people to buy things. I mean I understand it was part of the job when youโ€™re in sales and they have to make a certain quota by the end of the day but it just felt wrong. People should be free to look at and buy what they want.
Sep 15Reply
juniper878
juniper878 But I will use your message as a starting point and I will probably tweak it to my own personal message several times! Haha
Sep 15Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea My rough formula is to 1) greet them 2) let them know that there is absolutely no pressure to buy anything 3) let them know my boundaries (this my best offer, if you want a bigger discount you can add more things to your bundle and I'll offer an additional discount, discounted/free shipping, etc.) 4) wish them a lovely day ๐Ÿ’• Some poshers prefer to be more direct, this is just what feels right for me ๐Ÿ™‚
Sep 15Reply
acomfycupoftea
acomfycupoftea @juniper878 Absolutely! And I 100% agree about the quotas! I understand that quotas are important in business and having a 'goal' can be helpful, but even if it is the best product in the world, it still doesn't feel right to me to push it which is why I got out of retail lol ๐Ÿ˜…
