kleesnow @carjesden thank you for clarifying and I appreciate you asking. The straps are not compromised by the cracking of that edging. The purse still holds weight as it was originally designed to do. I had the bag hanging on a door handle which caused the wrinkles in the leather. I hope this helps answer your question
