Hi! I'm Kathrina. I love collecting vintage clothing, shoes, ephemera, tchotchkes, anybody’s old treasures. I love Ralph Lauren and Levi’s. I love Italian leather, hula dancers, sterling silver, plastic daisies, marzipan, Wedgwood, and rhinestones. I'm also all about downsizing, as my kids are grown and my house is too much work. 4getmenots Hello Kathrina, nice to meet you. Im in Love with your closet! Every thing looks great. On top of that you have amazing vintage fashion style. Is there a specific app or software program that you use to photograph your items? Or perhaps a technique that you might share with me? In lots of your pics, even the vintage clothing and knick knacks the item is set in an all white background with no shadows, absolutely seamless.

liontoe @4getmenots Linda, I’m so flattered to get your message! I might be very much like you when it comes to being maybe a bit consumed and particular with photography. It is definitely the one part of the whole process that slows me down. But presentation is so important in online sales, it’s an appropriate place for extra effort. I’m a real amateur in photography; I’ve been learning as I go. I use 2 photo apps I discovered along the way that feel indispensable to me now.

liontoe First, I take the pics using Lightroom (free version). It’s great for its versatile cropping and color/light control to keep images consistent. Then I upload those edits into the free version of the Snapseed app, which has the best background editing I’ve found that’s free. Use the dodge & burn brush function to whiten background.

In the past I downloaded both of those apps, however I never knew the little trick of kinda using them together as a team. Ive had my closet for a couple years now...Ive seen hundreds of thousands of closets and millions of photos.

liontoe These apps have helped me take better pics, but they can also be timesucks if you let them. Remind yourself that the time you take for pics is an investment in the value of your product. Don’t underprice yourself, but also, don’t invest too much in items that can’t shoulder the added value. Does that make sense? For folks like us with perfectionist tendencies, this can be an easy trap to fall into. I
