njgrl54 Looks like you have alpacas too! What are you using them for? Do you show? Farm name? I have 18 now and trying to downsize. Lots of fiber boys with awesome fiber stats.

super_irl @njgrl54 Yes, Urban Alpaca’s, I have a small fiber arts company, The Fiberphiles. I have 22 right now, but three fiber boys are sold and will be picked up in February. One is here for breeding and will be picked up in January. That will bring me down to 18. I’m trying to get down between 14-16 because the hay is so high. I’m in Royse City, TX. Number one seller is dryer balls which is in 10 states, 17 stores. How about you?

njgrl54 @super_irl I’m not as big as you are in merchandising. I have 18 and lots of fiber that I dye. I made some dryerballs with tennis ball core but that didn’t go over well. I’m going to make some the more traditional way. I have a big show coming up and no inventory. I also sell socks made in Peru and some sweaters etc. I’m not good at marketing or looking for new venues.

super_irl @njgrl54 what’s the name of your farm? I tried to make everything in the beginning, but took a marketing class and I learned to focus on our item that sells the most and focus on that. So dryer balls took off. I made between 150-300 a week for the past year. I ran out of fiber, except for my nicest fiber, at the end of November.

super_irl I will spin what I have left and knit hats and scarves until March when we shear. I post a lot of pictures and videos on Facebook and certain viewers have their favorite alpaca’s. So I give them first dibs on The hats and scarves. If you friend me on Facebook, I can send you some pictures of the way I make dryer balls that is relatively quick. It pretty much allows the washer to do all the wet felting.

njgrl54 @super_irl my farm is Alpacas of Sanssouci. You can find us on Facebook at alpacasofsanssouci. Do you mind sharing how you make yours? There are so many methods. I’m going to try to wrap seconds in some batting and go from there. But if you have an easier, faster way. Woohoo!
