I run a lot, and I always hope that new running shoes will make me faster.... So far, that has not happened! But I do end up with some nearly new or lightly used running shoes that didn't work for me, hope they will work for someone else! I am only selling shoes that I purchased new - they are shoes that I wore on a road or trail, so I couldn't return them. (I never understand how you're supposed to decide if you like a shoe or not if you don't take them out for a run...?)
