wendyleseman I moved to AK in 1985 to teach and never left. Now I am a librarian in Anchorage (retirement looming in the next year or so) and love the mountains. I hike and ski and can't imagine living anywhere else.

bchchick017 @warriorfish hi there.. I rescued a senior kitty from under a car by my house. She matched the description of a lost flyer but wasn't the missing cat. She was 3.12 lbs of fur, skin & bone and declawed. I got her up to 7.4 lbs but she went blind and her quality of life declined rather suddenly. The day I decided it was time to do the right thing, a random cat wandered into my house and wouldn't leave. She wasn't chipped and nobody claimed her so I gave her a home. She ended up being pregnant.

bchchick017 She had a litter of 4 kittens. And I said I would only keep a kitten if she had a white one. (I really only wanted one or two cats due to the financial responsibility) The last kitten to be born was white! Lol. One kitten didn't last but 11 hrs. I already had a home for one and I decided to also keep the runt of the litter, a special needs kitty who captured my heart. I have the mommy and her two babies.

bchchick017 They were born on Memorial Day (may 25th, 2015) the mother, Mila, is a beautiful, long hair calico, with the sweetest, most loving temperament. The white kitten, Milo, is half silver point Siamese, with blue eyes and an insatiable appetite. He is 13.8 lbs while his sister, Tipsy, a spotted tabby (like Toby) is only 7.2 lbs.

bchchick017 She almost died at 5 weeks old and when I took her to the vet, I learned she had cerebral hybpoplaysia, water on the brain. When she was a kitten, she wobbled when she walked and would fall over. I thought she looked drunk, so I named her Tipsy. She now walks normally and the only thing special about her is that when she intently focuses on something, her head shakes like some with Parkinson's.

bchchick017 Cats with her condition are known for being extremely loving and affectionate, more so than normal cats. And while their gait is slightly wider, they are really good jumpers. I also take care of my mom who has early onset Alzheimer's and dementia. These cats are our babies and I wouldn't have it any other way 😊

bchchick017 I love the look and coloring michonne, like a Siamese but with long hair. And Tody looks like a happy boy. I always wanted a Snow spotted Bangel, (that would stay tiny like a kitten even though there is no such thing lol) but they are very high energy and expensive. And so many kitties need homes, that I'd rather adopt than buy.

bchchick017 And I understand your struggle with weight. I used to be very athletic and a size 8. 9 years ago, when my father passed, my mom wasn't doing well so I moved her in with me. And at the same time, I declined a transfer with work to stay close to my dad in his final weeks, and took a lay off instead. I was very unhappy and went up to a size 22. I take care of my mom and nanny for 2 boys from the day they were born to now and they are now 4.5 yo.

bchchick017 Everything I do is for everyone else but last year I decided I had to fix myself. I lost 65 lbs just by changing my diet. I have 4 degenerated disks in my low back and 2 herniated disks in my neck. So exercise has to be zero impact. I'm entering a 60 day challenge at my gym on Sat. And I want to win! And lose about 35 more lbs.

warriorfish @bchchick017 yes :) they all have stories...I lost my Maine Coon a couple of years ago (he was 24!) and that left me with Toby. Fast forward 5 years in New Orleans and I have a houseful--/but that seems to be the way we end up as rescuers----we are the only ones stepping up to help these little creatures...sigh

bchchick017 I'm so sorry for the 100's of comments.. I hope I didn't irritate you. And I hate to ask, but is there any way you could hold the orange/coral speed shorts in size 10.. I have been looking for them for a year and a half in size 10! I get paid on Sunday. I'd usually never ask for hold for more than a day or so, but I will 100% buy these! I buy a lot on posh, merc and eBay. If you look at my stats.. I will absolutely buy them! I always keep my word. Pretty please 😊

bchchick017 Unfortunately they haven't offered surgery as a possible solution. Just injections which I had last August in my neck, the best thing in life! And I have been fighting my insurance for almost two years for the same injections in my low back. Apparently two MRI's are not enough to approve it.

bchchick017 But that's what you deal with on state provides health care. I need the injections to have a normal good paying job to get good healthcare. I can't sit or stand more than 90 mins without severe pain. So it's a viscous circle.. Can't improve my life till I get the injections they don't want to pay for. Just continuing with pain management.

bchchick017 And the most difficult thing about my mom is her change in personality. She used to be the sweetest most generous person. She is still in there. But she has times of frustration with herself which turns to rage towards me and she says the most hurtful things. I am the parent and she is the child. And she is stubborn and ornery. But I love her. My parents were told they couldn't get pregnant and I was a miracle baby and an only child.

bchchick017 As rescuers and caregivers, we need to support one another and stick together. Nobody understands exactly what it takes unless they have done it themselves. I have to nanny because it is the only job I can do the affords me the freedom to go to my mom's Doctor appts and my own. And I supports myself and mother. Her meds are crazy expensive.

I must say, I prefer LuLu’s older lines and cuts (more comfortable cuts & fabrics). So I didn’t buy anything. I love having Poshmark because you can find the older styles!! But if you like the newer stuff, plenty of final sale at the outlets!

Our main rescue was horses and farm animals bit of course dogs, cats,pot belly pig you name it we had it. I know how ugly rescue can be. I've seen the worst.. We can't save them all but sure give a hell of a try!! We got involved in The Susanville Ca cruelty case and it but us into bankruptcy..
