nickymoe @mari555333 the way they close in the picture is the way they close. The plates are flexible so it a just to the amount of hair you use. I say try them out tonight then send them back. Oh and keep the gift.

nickymoe @mari555333 I saw that your purchase is on its way back to me. I am very sorry for the issue. I checked that it was working before I sent it out and it was fine and in tact. I hope it wasn't damaged during shipment in that case I should have packaged it better. I hope you kept the gift.

lahoffman #mari555333 you bought the Michael Kors sandals. When I went to get them to ship, I noticed oil had been spilled on one of the back heels. I am going to refund your money and ship them to you anyway. I also sorry about that. I wish this had not have happened.
