unique__fox I was curious as to if you have any tips/advice that you would share that would help make more sales? I'm a little confused on what's the general best practice for pricing items, for example, a lot of what I've read states that customers expect a discount, and since you can only work with increments of 10%, I've read some say mark everything up 10-30 percent higher than what you want to profit minus your overhead...

unique__fox but that's quite a big range, and it seems like if you mark something up 30 percent higher than what you would really be happy making that it could also turn off a lot of potential customers from even liking or buying.

unique__fox I've only been on here a little over a week and only have two sales so far, I'm just trying to find out what I might be doing wrong. I've spent 6 to 8 hours each day sharing with everyone, and then more on top of that just trying to read and learn more about this. Anyway I just thought you might offer some tips. Thank you in advance for any insight you might be willing to offer.

marilynnscloset @wonder_emporium Hi I sometimes get really low ball offers - like asking me for 50% off. I always decline those. Other times I get really fair offers and I accept. Then still other times, I’ve gotten orders at my listing price. I have marked some of my items too low and only made a few dollars. So study other people’s closets, google the item you’re selling and see what people are selling it for on Poshmark or other platforms. That’s what I do, then I price accordingly.

elaineemrich Hello. I sent an offer that was low because of the regular price of shipping. I am in the area hit hardvby Hurricane Ian. I now have to but a new fence and need tree removal. I can't afford to be buying clothing because things are really bad here. This was just a comfort purchase because I love purple and it's a bright spot in what is going to be a long, long recovery.

marilynnscloset @unique__fox I usually look at sold comps to see what an item sold for. I edit sizes to include all sizes of the item when I'm trying to figure out prices. Other than that 6-8 hours a day seems like a really like a really long time to spend sharing. There are some apps that will do the sharing for you. I hope this helps.

sunshinejewels @marilynnscloset I love thrifting and I also rotate my closet when I get tired of things. Thrifting use to be great in Fort Lauderdale, you could find designer brands easily. Here in Orlando is not as good but I still have fun. I have this thrift store that sells everything for one dollar so my cost of goods is very low. That's why I don't hike my prices too high like some I see on Posh. I figure they are used clothes and I ask myself, "Would you pay that much"?

Here, Goodwill thinks they’re Macys and the thrift stores are higher. Even when they have sales twice a year. Plus, it's hard to find designer brands in Buffalo. Yes, it would be fun to thrift together. I'll keep nagging Brendan!

sunshinejewels @marilynnscloset I think they do have bins but I haven’t been there yet. I know the goodwills are getting ridiculous with their prices here too. I have two places that I frequent that are reasonable. Garage sales are good too. I forget not everyone has sunshine all year. You’ll have to take a trip to Florida someday.
