Hi! I'm Marina, long time Hermes scarves collector. I've been collecting them for 20 years, have a very extensive collection and knowledge regarding the subject. Sometimes I act as "Posh Hermes scarves police" as I feel it is unethical and fraudulent to offer replicas/fakes as a genuine Hermes for hundreds of dollars. Yes, sometimes, a seller is as clueless as it gets regarding Hermes, so I always give you a benefit of a doubt. Please feel free to ask for help. Peace!

marina_art @mandiraenyc yes, it is a fake, not even a "replica", it is a full-blown counterfeit. The person, who posted it, blocked me so I can't answer on her page, but I've been collecting Hermes scarves for 20 years and I know my stuff.

ladydaisywilson @marina_art I’m also selling for someone else and there was a miscommunication over the price. She wants this price after Poshmark take their commission so I’m so sorry but have to raise it a bit when it goes back on. It’s a rare one so will still be a great deal. One sold for as much as $700 on another auction site.

Yes, my conclusions are based on long experience of collecting and knowledge of the subject of Hermes scarves. I am an authenticator and do not pass my judgment lightly. Please feel free to ask me for help with a particular scarf you plan to buy. I do not charge any fees, I just hate fakes :)

marina_art @hathawaygoods if you just quit posting on my page and google Hermes fakes or replicas (to be more polite) you would realize your scarf is a pretty well-known Italian replica (Hermes never produced such a design on such an inferior quality silk).

marina_art @ajscloset2018 Hi there, sorry I didn't respond right away. I know twilly, had them since they were first introduced in 2004. The real twilly has tags placed in another place and they look a bit different. That twilly - Belles do Mexique were faked a lot by Chinese and I totally can understand it is easy to be mistaken as they look pretty good to the unsuspected eye.

marina_art @ajscloset2018 Thank you. I checked them thoroughly. Unfortunately, it is a replica. The tag is a fake and attached at the wrong place. The copyright is pretty clumsy. I also found the exact same twilly on a fakers site. It is your right not to believe me, but I stand by my original opinion.

First off it’s against the rules and secondly to threaten someone on posh for saying your item is a replica and you cannot prove that it is not is absurd. Maybe you have been lucky and have never purchased a REPLICA. But it’s really frustrating when some does get duped ! Quit frankly I am happy when someone educated enough ( on the particular subject or item being sold) to interject !

Maybe you are a nice person and was duped yourself. I am only against duping other people, knowingly or not. Good luck with your lawsuit.

loriannschmidt Hi there... i’m thrilled to find someone who is an expert on Hermes... you gave us some information earlier that prompted us to delete the giraffe scarf… Thank you very much in the future where do you go to get the information on how big certain things are made and that type of thing because when we took it to the local Hermès shop they would not confirm or deny the authenticity which did not help at all… Our client it’s a good one and has been with us for years…

marina_art @loriannschmidt you are welcome. I am not surprised that Hermes store SAs did not help you. They are specifically forbidden to authenticate anything Hermes-related. BTW, any other luxury brand will do the same. I rely on my knowledge and two decades of experience, as well as on the knowledge of other collectors and authentificators.

marina_art @loriannschmidt Some fakes are super easy to spot - like yours, when a pattern or a size or material were never issued by Hermes. Others are harder and need a second or third look. Chinese fakes of recent years are very hard to spot and often need to be held and examined throughout to verify their counterfeit nature.

marina_art @loriannschmidt there is no place I can send you that will authenticate your client's stuff for free. There are some services that authenticate Hermes leather. I can help with scarves. There is a Hermes Scarf Guide page on FB with lots of info, but it won't help you much if you are a Hermes scarves novice. The real thing would cost that hairdresser close to $900. I would be very cautious with dealing anything luxury that comes advertised as a "gift". Very very cautious.

marina_art @loriannschmidt I am sorry. I can't send you anywhere. You may go to The Purse Forum and ask there - in Hermes subforum. You will get the same answer. The SA you dealt with is not required to know what collectors know and is forbidden to give you ANY info about the autentification process. All they allowed to offer you is to buy in the Hermes store. They do not care about the second-hand market.

marina_art @loriannschmidt I am sorry. I do not know how to tell you more explicitly than I already did. I KNOW that - I know because I keep track of ALL Hermes scarves issued. And I KNOW this scarf was NEVER issued in this format + material. There was a cashmere/silk shawl in 140 and silk 90cm. Maybe there is a pareo (I guess that is what you are referring to), but I KNOW that Chinese faked this scarf in 140cm in that exact colorway that you were offering.
