vcribb I love Gatlinburg! We've been there on vacations many times. I love it there. I was so scared when they had those fires that it was going to burn everything down it and it never be the same again. The fires didn't affect you did it I'm sure you got a lot of smoke you just being an hour away.?

mels_marvels @everythingsfab that’s ok hun! I know what it’s like. My grandpa had dementia for years before he developed Alzheimer’s. I took care of him and it got really bad before he passed. It broke my heart seeing him that way. Do whatever you need to! Thank you for letting me know! 🌹🌹❤️

rockintherack and she has that look of confusion and wonder like there’s no sign she knows me at all even when previous in same day we talked about my dad and our life when I was young 😭😞she does tho remember her childhood like it’s yesterday tho😳sooo strange how this disease works and takes them 😭😭it’s heart wrenching

mels_marvels @everythingsfab my grandpa, thankfully, remembered me. But only me. My mom was his only child and it really hurt her. He didn’t know my grandma and would try to hurt her when I wasn’t there. What is so strange is that before he got sick he was the most loving and kind man you could’ve ever met! He was my world but as hard as it is without him I know he wouldn’t want to have lived like that and I know he’s watching over me!

mels_marvels @everythingsfab I know sweetie believe me! My grandpa didn’t have it that way. He was confused till the end. I finally had to agree to put him in a home when he stopped walking and talking. After that he was there a month before he finally passed. I still have a hard time and it’s been 5 yrs this month. You’ll find out you’re stronger than you think. And it’s like you said, you’ll both have peace. It’s a horrible way to live. No one deserves to suffer that way. I pray they find a cure soon!

I would get called in the middle of the night and get there sometimes to find my grandpa holding a knife (before we took every knife and fork out of the house) and crying saying my grandma was some man that wanted to hurt him and he would say he couldn’t find my grandma. Those were the worst times and it was a few months later when he couldn’t get out of bed and stopped talking.

It was only a few months after it got to that point when he stopped getting out of bed and quit talking. I hate you have to go through this. Keep hanging in there! mels_marvels @everythingsfab it sounds to me that you’re a very strong and kind hearted person and if you’re anything like me, you set your mind to the task at hand and nothing can get in your way, to the point of not not stopping till it’s done. The problem with that is extreme exhaustion! And when we’re that tired all our emotions seem more exaggerated. We let the sadness take hold. Just remember, there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

My ex had a huge Pit that slept with us every night and he was the same, afraid of anything! My baby I have now is a little long hair Chi I rescued on Christmas Eve 5 years ago when he was a tiny puppy. He’s the same too, been there when no one else was, he thinks he’s a big dog too 🐶.
