Meet your Posher, Nancy

Hi there! I’m a 1777 Living History Re-enactor in Michigan traveling throughout the State giving presentations at re-enactment venues. I have sewn my entire wardrobe for Spring, Summer, and Fall of my own 1777 designs, along with sewing/creating 90% of my accessories. I’ve also styled my wig in the French High Roll style sought after by the women of the Gentry Class of Colonial America. I portray myself, Nancy Ambrose Baker of the Gentry Class in New Hampshire society. My Great-Grandfathers Captain Ambrose and Captain Baker 6x’s removed, both fought in the Revolutionary War in, coincidentally, 1777. Ambrose hailed from New Hampshire and was a Captain in the Welch’s Regiment at the 2nd battle of Saratoga. That battle was the turning point in the Revolutionary War because that victory showed France General Washington’s army was a true fighting force. With that, France joined the Revolution. Great-Grandfather Ambrose was born in 1741 in New Hampshire and is buried at the “Old Cemetery” Revolutionary War Veterans section in New Hampshire. Great-Grandfather Baker joined the New Hampshire Colonial militia but was captured by the British while defending Ft. Washington. He was imprisoned on a British prison ship in New York Harbor, later released in a prisoner exchange with the British Army. I am honored to tell their stories in my presentations, and humbled by their service in the New Hampshire Colonial Militia of The American Revolutionary War. My journal keeps me always in 1777.
