poshswagger @saraadrian haha thank you, but I’m definitely sure you’re probably better in other areas than me. Snakes are definitely not for everyone. It’s a major long term (low maintenance) commitment 30-40years. I have another 20+\- yrs left. I got him when he was 3months old.

saraadrian @poshswagger well I’m sure you love your snake. I have a friend that has one but hers is not big like yours. Snakes just freak me out. I have a Yorkie and a mini poodle. They are basically like my babies because my kids are grown

poshswagger @saraadrian awe how cute!!! I absolutely find Yorkies sooo adorable, I really wanted one. And poodles are ridiculously intelligent!! I really want a dog. No space or time commitment a sitar the moment. One day!! I sure do love my snake, believe it or not, he has its own personality... he recognizes my family as well by smell vs strangers (noticed via baby sitters and family coming to check up on him).

poshswagger @saraadrian In the past year I think I’ve discovered I can tell when he’s Sleeping or awake; by when I notice his eyes dilate when disturbed at certain times. haven’t been able to confirm if that’s true, or if other snake owners have observed, would love your friend to check it out and see if they notice similar event happening with the eyes.

poshswagger @saraadrian all pets are like children, definitely a very good replacement for when the real ones glow up and leave the nest. I’m childless but joke that I have a 17y/o!! 😂

saraadrian @poshswagger yes my poodle is extremely smart my Yorkie is also but not as smart as the poodle. How often do you feed the snake? What does it eat rats? The snake has never tried to squeeze you?

poshswagger @saraadrian is it easy to have the poodle train the Yorkie or lead by example? I feed him large rats generally once a week, there are weeks or months where he’ll not want to eat, others he’ll want twice a week, it can vary. He has not tried to squeeze me, but I’ve never let him have the opportunity to “size me up”, I’ve always been very dominant/man handle him.

poshswagger @saraadrian cats are just as wonderful as dogs, all animals are. They all have their own quirks and needs. So happy to hear you’ve gotten animals in your life. They are whole another level of unconditional love.

saraadrian @poshswagger probably lead be example. That’s interesting about the snake. Do you ever have friends or family that will not come visit because you have the snake? Yes, I’m so glad I got these dogs they bring me so much joy not to mention keep me company.

poshswagger @saraadrian no, never had them not come. It’s out of sight out of mind situation. We have friends/relatives who are afraid of diff animals (cats, dogs, rabbits etc) so we just put them in a different area for the duration of the visit.

poshswagger @saraadrian you won’t be able to live without pets (dogs cats etc) now that you have them. It’s not until they’re gone do you realize the extent of their emotion and physical contribution to your life. I love my snake, but furry animals have a different level of support they provide(relaxation of cuddles etc). I only have the snake now and I dearly miss not having a furry critter around).

poshswagger @saraadrian try the out of sight out of mind thing, if you can (place them in a bedroom or another comfort area). I mean the pets do hate it, cause you know they want in on the visitation and attention, but you won’t miss out on your friends.

poshswagger @saraadrian I’ve had plenty of other pets w/the snake. He’s outlived them all. I kept him far away frm bird & rabbit cause of being tasty meals. The 18lbs in/outdoor cat he had a weird relationship with. As a 1’ baby they’d sleep together (cat= warm blanket). as he got older I let cat play w/him as a “mechanical string”, so cat wouldn’t be afraid to take him out if he attacked. This got him trained to ignore the cat & stay away.

poshswagger @saraadrian lol yes! Keeping the pets contained is the hardest point. There were a couple times the cat or rabbit escaped and showed up to the dinner party and it caused a scene. The scared people scattering, the pet lovers swooning & trying to cuddle... lol

poshswagger @saraadrian haha yes!!! I am OBSESSED with animals. Never a lack of animal stories, domesticated and wild...idk how my parents managed... I was the product of “you can have them if you take care of them...” a huge mistake on their end, because I started sneaking pets home. snakes are terribly easy to hide, got away for 6months before my sister snitched lol

poshswagger @saraadrian haha yes they were pissed! My sister was home from college & had gotten in trouble. while they were yelling at her; her only response was “she’s hiding a snake in her closet”. they immediately forgot about why the were mad at her. They eventually came around a couple months later, but they also thought he’d “only get a little bit bigger” than ~ 1.5” (Size at time of discovery) they never specifically asked for exact adult size for species. Lol

Well, it definitely looks like you’re enjoying your self now and relaxing with two smart fur babies, who I hope are giving you less trouble than the human babies as they grew up.

poshswagger @saraadrian I did. Left my parents at home on my long weekend from work and I drove down (frm nor cal to so cal) to spend it with my snake snitching sister 😂. The only “vacations” I’m getting this year due to covid 😭

poshswagger @magpiemaven he was about the length of a #2 pencil and width of a carpenters pencils. He is now 7ft as of three years ago. Do you have a favorite flower strains? Sometimes I wish I could add a couple as free gifts to my buyers that share the love 😂 but you know...Uncle Sam wouldn’t be too kind if he found it in my USPS packaging.😭 😂😂

I’m coincidentally very functional on it, and have a pretty good memory, it’s strange, my fam laughs about it cause I remember the weirdest shit. I have yet to try magic fungi, not ready for the chemical change in my brain, one day tho. Especially because it can be used for therapy.
