@eviepittie SEVEN YEARS in a shelter??? That's just crazy and breaks my heart!!! So many people just don't understand the breed. We have three in our family, I have one, my oldest son has one and my middle son has one. They live right next door and right across the street from me, so I see them every day. I have pics in my closet. Ours was close to death when we saved her. I wouldn't take nothing for her! Love them all....💟

@dramaless love that you have dogs :). They are simply the best and I agree that pitbulls are very misunderstood, one thing that is accurate--they are super smart and super loyal. Thank you for your support and also for being such a dog lover. I find that all dog/cat lovers have kind hearts :)

@xdeanna_babex I just followed you too :) Your pup Candy is beautiful! Mine is primarily doggie related and includes our two pups and some of the dogs from the shelter I volunteer at. As you can see, I'm just a tad obsessed with shelter dogs, particularly the mutts, pits, seniors--or any dogs altogether 😁

What an adorable dog. I love pits, they are such good dogs. And I love that you adopt! I always adopt too. Its so sad to think she was in the shelter for 7 years but I bet she is so happy now!

So glad you were able to adopt her. I'm a foster mom for a dog rescue group and many became my forever dog .... But 7 years ius 6 years and 364 days too many in a shelter ...

@lacie510 Great to hear that you foster/adopt as well. It saddens me that people still breed, esp the backyard breeders when there is such an overpopulation problem in animal shelters. They should spend a day at a shelter and they would understand why there is so much passion behind adoption. Thank you for your kind words 😄

@eachloe Thank you 😄 I've always adopted--never understood why people go out and buy an animal when they can save a life instead. This only perpetuates the problem of overpopulation. Besides, there are plenty of purebred rescues out there if one has to have a specific breed. I prefer to adopt senior dogs too because they come mostly trained, calm, and so full of love and wisdom.

@eachloe Ever since we adopted Eve, I am simply Obsessed with pitbulls and vow to always have pitbulls. They are super smart and so cuddly. It's a real shame that evil people mistreat and fight them and the media does nothing to debunk the stigma that pitbulls are vicious. I've had chihuahua rescues that are more vicious than my pitbull. Thank you for rescuing as well 😃If only a quarter of the people who buy dogs would choose to adopt instead, there will no homeless animals in shelters.

I completely agree with you. I was a little scared of pitties until I started to volunteer at the downtown animal shelter 10 years ago. I fell in love with the breed and their resilience and affection towards people. I think that is so cool that you adopt senior dogs. They are often neglected or left in shelters too long, like Eve was. I think if people like you and me continue to get the word out, we can make a difference and change people's perceptions.

@eachloe Amen to that! More people need to speak up for this special breed. It was love at first sight when I saw Eve at the shelter that I volunteer at and now she's living happily ever after with my husband and her older chihuahua brother Diesel (they are best friends--it's so adorable to see an 80lb dog snuggle with a 15lb dog).

Eve is adorable! I have been adopting pitbulls for many years and they are such wonderful family dogs! Mine are therapy animals too and visit the elderly and children and they just love it! I’m so glad you were able to give Eve the love she deserves!

@jls83007 thank you for the kind words 🥰 Eve was the first pittie that I adopted and now I’m so obsessed with pitbulls. Unfortunately, Eve had cancer and we tried everything, including taking her to a cancer specialist for surgery. Sadly, the cancer spread and she was ready to leave us. My heart breaks everyday. She spent 8yrs at a shelter, but after being adopted she gave us the best 5 years anyone can ask for ❤️. Pitbulls truly are the best dog ever!!! Thank you for sharing your story ❤️
