Meet your Posher, Sally

Hi! I'm PurplRibbonPosh. You can call me Sally. Or Purple. I'm from Milwaukee where I live with my husband, son, and two dogs. I've worked in the book business for 30 years. I named my closet "PurplRibbon" for two reasons. When I was 14-15 years old, I won a purple ribbon at our county fair for an exhibit for Fashion Merchandising. (It was a very 80s peacoat.) I was a 4-H member, and winning that purple ribbon meant that I got to go to the State Fair, where I got to walk in a fashion show. It was the highlight of a very mediocre 4-H resume. But I'd always loved clothes. Fashion Plates were a highlight of my childhood, and I even designed my own prom dress. The other reason I took the name PurplRibbon is because the purple ribbon is a symbol of support for people with epilepsy. My son, who is developmentally and physically disabled, has had a seizure disorder since he was 11 months old. He's now 20. And he's really why I'm here. He taught me to be brave enough to try new things, and ... it's expensive raising a child with disabilities so I decided to start my own small business doing something I love. But most importantly, he has taught us to find joy wherever we can find it. And we find it thrifting together as a family, and that led me here because I thrifted way too many clothes on our family thrift trips! Thanks for checking out my closet!
