illind I apologize. I do my best to keep all new items is sealed in plastic containers. If you put it in a sealed box with a couple of new dryer sheets, it should smell good after a short time. Once it is gifted, the lucky recipient will be able to wash it. Again, I apologize and hope this advice helps.
