Hi! I'm Sue....an avid thrifter (for almost 50 years now) and Poshmark is a fun place to sell it as well as an excuse to keep on thrifting. I also make upcycled or repurposed clothing and occasionally will try my luck listing some of my designs. Thanks for taking time to meet me and hopefully you will enjoy what I have to offer.

I’m not sure if you know this easy way to build the number of people you’re following or not but if you see at the top of your closet where it shows you’re following 153 people, you can click on that title and it shows all the individual closets you’re following. You can go into anyone’s closet and do this, too. On either the title of followers or following. Just an FYI.

omi_omy @snr1955 You have great questions! It’s really important to share from other closets. When I first started, I would find a closet that I liked and begin sharing (you could also follow the person by clicking the blue follow box at the top of their page). Hopefully the person who’s closet you’ve shared will share your closet.

omi_omy So right now there’s a party going on that features Kate Spade, Lilly Pulitizer, etc. Since you have a Lilly P. dress in your closet, I shared it to this party, rather than just sharing to my regular followers. When people shop at a party, they can refine their search by brand thereby giving you better exposure for your item.

omi_omy There are different parties conducted throughout the day which may apply to the brands in your closet. It’s always great to share whatever items you can to a particular party. And each evening, the final party that’s hosted you can share EACH item in your closet! Woo hoo! 🎉

omi_omy @snr1955 It’s my understanding that once you share an item to a party there’s no benefit to share it again to the party. But you can always share again to your followers. I share my items many times a day.

omi_omy @snr1955 This area is my specialty! 😉 I usually get the ones I use from Google Images. If you go on this site, just type in the brand name and brief description and it usually brings up a lot of images to choose from. Also, some people find images on Pinterest. Good luck!

omi_omy @snr1955 I’ve never had an issue. I know that someone had one of their listings removed by Posh since the brand had an issue with it. The posher just had to remove the stock photo and use their own and re-post.

I do a lot of things to my own clothes, but I do more by hand than with my sewing machine. And then I usually wear those things threadbare where no one would want them after I'm done. Hopefully your Etsy site gets more traffic. Don't get discouraged ~

I also have an Etsy shop...pretty slow go also. There is just so much great upcycled repurposed altered clothing to choose from. I'm have my stuff in a local shop as well. I'm in a tourist area and that season is coming up. Jan. Feb. we're flat. March picked up. Hoping it keeps picking up. I'm trying....👍😎

I have lots I could list...but would rather be outside gardening or out on the water....or sewing. The 4th is crazy here. Southport has a huge celebration with gazillions of people descending on the town. Did you ever see the movie Safe Haven? Based on a Nicholas Sparks book. It was filmed here. People come here because of it. Anyway...

snr1955 @omi_omy Thanks Naomi. We evacuated to Charlotte where my son lives...so we are safe and with family. Local routes home at this time are impassible due to flooding or bridges out. Even if we can get close we can't get into Southport...which is about 20 miles from Wilmington. We've gotten steady updates about our neighborhood from those who stayed and no homes damaged or flooded. Feeling grateful....so many others in such a bad way. 🙏🙏🙏

Like your skiing pic. I grew up in a downhill skiing family. Haven't in quite awhile as my husband doesn't. We did cross country ski before we moved south....miss that but not the cold so much.😊

snr1955 @letgololo My packaging is quite simple. I am very mindful in regards to re-using/recycling materials. I don’t buy new... just from thrift stores and yard sales. A few years ago I acquired a huge bag of eyelet curtains. I’ve been cutting them into wide strips which I tie into a big fat bow around the folded item. I have a simple thank note I make on the computer with nice papers that I tuck under the bow.

snr1955 @letgololo I also put the item in a plastic bag inside the box in case package gets left out in the rain. I don’t do a lot with wrapping paper. At Christmas I did some and used cool wire wrap ribbon. Again acquired inexpensively at thrift stores. Haven’t done much with freebies. Sometimes when I find a super deal on scarves I might tie up a package in a scarf bow.

Since I’m not a thrifter I don’t have those items on hand but I do have a lot of tissue and stickers from my days in education so I’ve been using those. Nothing stellar though and I’m sure yours top mine by miles. Where do you thrift?

If I had purchased them myself at retail stores I probably wouldn't be so willing to do so. So you are retired too. I take it that's not a picture of you in your profile pic ;-)

All my stuff is basically mine. Moved from Canada to here 5 years ago and cringe when I think I could have placed it here instead of giving it all away to places like Savers, Good Shepherd, etc. I'm selling it because what I brought here I feel still has some value. Consignments will give me little, so I figured I'd try PM.

snr1955 @letgololo So very cool ...I too am from Canada. My family moved here when I was in third grade in 1963....ha now you can figure how old I am 😜 Actually still a Canadian citizen. You look fabulous from the back...I’m sure the front is just as. Lots of poshers use a fashion pic for their profile...and you just looked too young to be retired. You stay in shape that is obvious.

I have put my closet on vacation when I go away for longer than a couple days. Even when I get a really good deal on something I still have a hard time letting stuff go that I know has value for too low a price. Sometimes I remove items that are worthy and relist them next season.

snr1955 @letgololo For that profile pic I used a free app called visage labs. It’s fun to play around with. I do all my listing on my desktop computer....bigger and easier on my eyes. I do most of my sharing on my iPad while watching TV. My phone is just too small so I hardly use that for Poshing.
