robocon70 ✨Hi Suzy, I’m so excited for you and your family! Some ideas for Kona (warmer side of the isle), there are beautiful beaches at Spencer Beach Park (Kawaihae), Pine Trees aka Kohanaiki (there’s a great take out place across the street, Pine Tree Cafe), there’s also a public beach next to the King Kamehameha Resort in Kona. There are tons of ocean activities in Kona like deep sea fishing, parasailing, snorkeling and seeing the manta rays at night (Snorkeling and from boat).

robocon70 Specific hotels also have their own activities, so let me know if you have ?s about that, too! If staying at a condo, I’d highly recommend shopping at Costco for groceries because you’ll save buying in bulk-like salads, family meals, and snacks. If staying at a condo, I’d recommend packing stuff like sunscreen, ziplock bags, trash bags, etc-probably cheaper from where you’re from.

robocon70 For the Hilo side of the island, there are lots of hiking opportunities-Volcanoes National Park- guided tours and independent hiking trails, mild ones like Bird Park and Thurston Lava Tube. There are also waterfalls like Akaka Falls steep trail, but paved and Rainbow Falls- right next to parking lot. If staying at a hotel in Banyan Drive, there’s Liliuokalani Japanese Garden Park and Coconut Island within walking distance— nice places to just walk over to, hang out or picnic.

robocon70 @suzyqz23 Of course! One of the biggest days for folks in Hilo are Wednesdays because they’re Farmers Market day. Fun to check out in downtown Hilo—lots of fresh produce, local goods and nearby shops!
