adameprof @darklandpoetry No, I went to SFA in Port acres for middle school. I believe it's a middle school now but back then it was high-school. Now for high-school they have a new bigger building

darklandpoetry @adameprof LOL I looked it up. Looks like they do still have it, but it looks like it''s changed a lot. It used to have a parade and the band would march and stuff like that. It was a whole festival. It was to celebrate the oil history in that area. There would be "princesses" from the different schools in the immediate area and then "duchesses" from further out areas. I didn't care for the pageant portion of it, but it was still a lot of fun.

adameprof @darklandpoetry Oh wow it does sound fun, I'll look into it. The oil industry is still booming here, they keep building new refineries. They used to also have the parades and such in pleasure island but that is fat gone, I only remember it from when I was little

darklandpoetry @adameprof I don't really remember a parade on Pleasure Island. I do remember they had concerts occasionally. I saw Coolio there. lol I used to go out there all the time when I was a kid though. My dad had a small sailboat and we'd go all the time. I hated it at the time because it was so hot, but now I look back on it as good memories. Do they still have the Mardi Gras parade in PA or has it moved to Beaumont?

They stopped like 2/3 years ago believe , they have been moving it so much that I honestly don't know where they have it now since I don't go anymore. So yeah, it's so different now

darklandpoetry @adameprof I think the last time I was in Port Arthur was around 10 years ago. The last time I was in the area at all has been around 5 years now. We'll probably visit sometime soon. All my family still lives down there and I'd like to see everyone. Have you ever visited the Pacific Northweast?
