loubchoogirl @ashbash87 It’s amazing you’re mad at me instead of whoever gave you fake shoes as a gift. I give people the benefit of the doubt and figure they probably just don’t realize it. It’s illegal to sell counterfeits, even if Poshmark doesn’t always do anything it, so even if you don’t like it it’s still better for you to know. In your case, the shoes are shaped completely wrong and all the stitching and edge finishing is very sloppy. If you can’t see that, then there’s probably no convincing you.

loubchoogirl @cadillacclaire @bsamber23 FWIW on that pair from ashbash the sole is hard to judge because it has plastic on it and by itself the leather stamp isn’t necessarily a red flag. The sloppy edges and uneven shape are what make me question them, even older Loubs wouldn’t look like that.

I’ve seen some good fakes with the little rectangle sticker so be careful. If anyone needs help I’d be more than happy to help. I’d hate to see someone get scammed 😟

loubchoogirl @iamjulsss Oh, sure, the plastic is a flag but IMO not automatically a problem. People put weird looking plastic on their authentic shoes sometimes, and even those horrible little grippy ones you get from Aldo sometimes that make everything off balance. I just prefer to stick to the stuff that people can’t come up with excuses for!

cadillacclaire @loubchoogirl Agreed the stamp is not a dealbreaker. I have a pair of Clichy that has the stamp because they're quite old. It's the crappy stitching and the plastic soles that clinch it. She's posted a pic of the protective plastic peeled back, like that's going to help.

loubchoogirl Overall I think it's better if people stick to talking about the shoes (or whatever items, I know there are a lot of fakes purses too but I don't do bags) and stay away from talking about the people even if it's a repeat offender or they attack you. Let them take the low road, I'm not a shrink so I'm not trying to diagnose people's behavior, I just don't want other people to end up spending their hard-earned money on fakes.

If I go to my own closet (or anyone else’s) & tag you, you will not receive a notification even if your preferences are set to receive notifications for tags. You can still see it, IF you meander to wherever it lives, but you won’t know to do so

tiffcake I tested all that using a friend and taking turns blocking each other and unblocking each other. You also can’t submit an offer above the asking price—I tested this with tamararose000 before she blocked me bc I wanted to buy them for $500 to force the posh authentication (& hopefully get them confiscated/destroyed). It tells you that your offer must be below XXX (whatever the listing price is)

tiffcake I don’t have confirmation from anyone nor can I come up w/ controlled testing situation for determining whether blocked users can submit reports... I only suspect they don’t count towards quota to reach expungement threshold (or crowdsourced reviewing) bc so many of us were consistently reporting pairs that weren’t going anywhere (while sometimes when I report I’m the last person reaching quota & they disappear right away) My only guess is they didn’t count bc all of us were blocked

tiffcake @everettsmom16 I’m size 7 but I have sizes all over the map in louboutin—but Thats mostly bc I buy resale & am left with what’s available rather than buying my best size at retail if hat makes sense. I don’t have any regular Rolandos but I have two pairs of rolandzip which I think is exactly the same except the zipper embellishment. The 37 seemed wicked tight but I have no slippage. The 38’s feel great... UNTIL I TRY TO WALK. So I use poofy heel grips.

tiffcake @katiekhaos I rarely comment on the actual listings unless someone is blatantly lying (saying they purchased an obviously fake pair from a legit retailer) so I don’t *think* I’m blocked as frequently as I used to be when I didnt hold my tongue. So I will have to look for the next pair that gets reposted over and over. The tricky thing is that those usually aren’t over $500 and that’s the key to what we are trying to test (whether or not headquarters confiscates the fakes or returns them)

tiffcake Basically, if posh doesn’t confiscate and she gets them back, she won’t be able to hide their counterfeit status from anyone anymore even if she relists because then she can’t remove the sold listing :) and pretty much anyone who isn’t blocked can comment and as long as the comments don’t violate rules she won’t be able to get the comments removed either through reports :)

I think we can understand what it’s like to be emotionally attached to shoes! And if you’ve never actually handled a leather sole before, you wouldn’t know the difference. loubchoogirl I told them I report stuff all the time and I don’t expect it to just disappear after one report but maybe they should allow a comment box explaining why you think it’s a replica like eBay does, and either review it themselves or figure out a way to relay that to the sellers without it becoming a way to send private messages.

tiffcake @loubchoogirl I’d add another suggestion based on experimenting: they can put new listings for certain designers on pause & they don’t go live until they are reviewed. If they do it w/ staff it will be a bottleneck but they’re already crowdsourcing review so why not do that on the front end instead of or in addition to the back end. They have the ability to do this already bc if you make a not for sale listing for a designer it won’t go live.

tiffcake @loubchoogirl that’s actually a good buzzword—moderators. Every forum has staff moderators but there’s also a team of volunteers. The mods take actions to keep things from escalating and maintain the community guidelines.

tiffcake @loubchoogirl backpage is like Craigslist for escorts... and other illegal/quasi-legal things... not to say it didn’t have legitimate uses but those were foreshadowed by its shady uses.
