betagrey Crazy!! I was in a coma in 2012 & 2013, I lost almost everything including my life!! I lost my house, job, car, my husband was deported... I moved back home w/ the clothes on my back. excelencia @mkoehnke 🧚‍♀️🌸 Hi, so hapoy to help! Many of us buy our stock from companies wholesale (must have a resale license from the state), and can list as Boutique. Posh has a certification process for sellers to be able to list items that way, also gives them access to Posh’s Wholesale Portal. Others buy items on clearance racks, some from thrift shops, occasionally people find a brand new item there or buy something for themselves and never wear it and those can also be listed as NWT. excelencia @mkoehnke You can easily print labels from a computer 😊 or even from a phone as long as the printer has bluetooth. You can use regular paper and tape the label onto the box. USPS has free priority mail mailing boxes and envelopes you can get at the post office or order online for home delivery. I love them! No need to buy boxes. I use certain sizes a lot so I always order packs of 25 of the ones I use a lot and 10 of the ones I don’t use much of.

excelencia @mkoehnke Staging your items and taking accurate photos of them in good light with an uncluttered background is very important. As you look through people’s listings, you’ll notice ones where you can tell it might be a nice item but sadly the photo is awful, too dark or doesn’t show enough of the item. It’s good to include a photo of the inside label and also give a detailed description of the item, measurements and condition.

excelencia @mkoehnke Once you have listings up, you should share it to your followers and also to any “party” that fits its category or brand. That will give it more visibility. Another tip is to join a party (even if you don’t have anything for it) and share the items in it to your followers or back to the party. Those people will share your item to their followers or to the party also, increasing its exposure to a lot of new people.

I have a large closet for clothing and shoes and it is bursting LOL, also have large storage racks in that room with clear storage containers that are labeled, more in my garage. For jewelry, I have wood/glass cases for it and also use stacking plastic ones with the little dividers the kind you can find at a craft store, like the kind used for beading 😊 I also have bins with shipping supplies and the thank you gifts I include with each order

excelencia @mkoehnke Some people actually number each item they list with a code and organize everything by those numbers. I organize by type of item and I love those clear bins so I can find anything quickly. Clothing in the closet is organized by color.

Don't be discouraged if things don't sell quickly - sometimes it just takes time for the right buyer to come along. Lots of my sales come directly from specific searches, so title and descriptions and key words are very important. Also, it's good to provide measurements for items. Statistics show that items with white, uncluttered backgrounds sell fastest. (continued)

excelencia @mkoehnke Lighting in photos is important also so if it isn't great, edit or retake the photo. Use key words in a list at the bottom of the listing without hashtags because hashtags being connected to the word effectively change the spelling and then the listing won't show up in searches. Those are my main suggestions - good descriptions and good lighting. Keep sharing your own listings and those of other poshers and chatting is also important, the algorithm likes social interaction.

excelencia @mkoehnke Sharing your listings also updates them, putting them at the top of the search results for similar items. Buyers search and compare items - think of your own shopping methods and which items and listings are most attractive to you. Some sellers cross post to other platforms and do ok. I've listed items on other sites like Merc and Ets to test those out but get far, far more sales on Poshmark.

excelencia @mkoehnke I think mannequins are great! A solid white or beige background is good though outdoor photos (like a brick wall or wood fence backdrop or greenery) also do well. To share your own listings, click on the little share icon on each, just like you'd do for other's listing. The share will go to the Feeds of your followers unless there is a party happening and if the item fits the criteria it can be shared to that party (like a top can be shared to the "Best in Tops Party but not a dress)

excelencia @mkoehnke I can see you've worked hard on your listings and most are very attractive and show the item in a good light. Photo that need to be flipped (like is showing sideways instead of up and down) should be edited and updated so that it appears correctly. Don't despair! Sales will happen and the more followers you get, the more will see your items when you share them and when others share them. There are hours that tend to bring in more sales - after midnight. at 6 AM, 11 AM and 6 PM,

excelencia @mkoehnke I think so! When people share your listings, they go to the Feeds of their followers or to a party, whichever they've chosen. If shared to their followers, those go to each follower's Feed. If you look at your feed, you'll see items and who shared them, your followers from their own closets and also items they've shared from other people's closets.

The Feed moves quickly, so unless you scroll through it a long way you won't always see your items there that have been shared. You'll see the notification in your News, though it won't say where the item was shared to unless it was shared to Twitter or Tumblr or Pinterest, etc.

To transfer your credit to your bank, in Account in the app go to "My Balance" - it will show Credits (from Poshmark if you win one of their contests or referring your friends and they sign up and buy something using your code), Credit Pending (that's for sales that haven't been accepted yet by the buyer) and then click on "Redeemable".(that's for sales that have been delivered and accepted by the buyer. excelencia @mkoehnke When going fast or sharing a lot, you will eventually get a popup that asks if you are not a robot and you have to check the box before you can do anything more. It's important to do that quickly so Posh's system doesn't think you are a robot and ban/block you.

excelencia Thank you for all the kind compliments! I don't sell wholesale, though I buy from wholesalers. Wholesalers won't sell to anyone without a resale license so I got a reseller's license from my state (in California it's an easy process online) Unless you source used/new items from thrift stores or family, it's definitely how to protect your profit margin. Poshing is my full time occupation and I source both from wholesalers and family

excelencia When you buy from wholesalers, generally you pay up front and they ship it to you. I keep all my inventory with me and don't use drop-shippers. It's better that way so you can see the quality of the items firsthand, take your own photos of items and be able to ship quickly. With dropshipping, you have no idea when it will ship or arrive to you and that causes delays in shipping items to buyers

excelencia So buying wholesale is an investment, and you price items accordingly so that both you and the buyer are happy. You should also always compare prices online so that you can find what is the best starting point for an item. It's recommended also to price high to start with so you can drop the price or offer discounts. If you start too low, there is no room to do that and anymore, everyone expects a discount. Then there are those people send lowball offers (most everyone hates those!)

excelencia There's really no need to accept those lowball offers - some lowballers are newbies who don't know better and think they need to start low so you'll meet them in the middle, some do it because it is part of their normal culture and also don't expect you to accept but unfortunately some lowballers give you a sob story just to see if you'll basically give it away and then they resell it at a higher price (!)

I’m. an RN and make descent money but I’m Pt right now with a herniated disc. I find out tomorrow when I’m going to have back surgery.. This is a way to supplement my income but I would love to do it full time. Without getting to personal can you give me an idea of a range that a person can make?

I’ve been through back surgery for that before and even though it was “minimally invasive”’ and I could walk afterward, the recovery still took time. About $, according to some info sites there are a few poshers making $80k-$100k/year but they have huuuuuge closets and a lot of expensive inventory. Income definitely varies by the season

If you have a lot of free inventory (from family and friends!) or inventory bought wholesale and you spend a LOT of time sharing (like fulltime) and you have a lot of followers you can make a living at this, but it def is time consuming to get to that point and there are no guarantees.

excelencia @mkoehnke Lots of poshers source from thrift stores and look for the most popular brands (Posh has links to what’s trending) and do ok also. The less you pay for something the more you’ll make ;) I share my entire closet three times a day plus belong to a share group and am admin of another so my items get a lot of exposure but one day off and it’s zero sales.

excelencia It took me over a year of constant poshing and listing to get to where I was making enough to do only this, but because of seasonal ups and downs I still don’t make enough to live on without my husband’s income. How much you make will depend entirely on how much you pay for inventory and how competitively you’ve priced your items.

excelencia @mkoehnke When you look at Posh’s website using a laptop, up at the top left there is a link that says Brands - also ones that say Women, Kids, etc. If you float your cursor over them you’ll see a list and it shows what’s trending, what’s being searched for most. That’s a good place to start! Also, it’s good to choose items you like and know something about.

excelencia @mkoehnke You won’t usually be able to see prices until they’ve approved your account (you usually have to send a copy of your reseller permit) but after that you can see prices and policies. Some have minimum orders and also there are shipping costs to figure in plus you’ll have to report it on your income tax return (and pay taxes on profits) so good accounting is important 🌸

Just saw the question about your prices - I think most of your prices are fine, though some seem too low, maybe are priced to sell right at list price but don’t give you any room to offer a discount or offer discounted shipping which comes out of your pocket. excelencia @mkoehnke It doesn’t show when the price is raised except if you’ve sent offers on it and then only to those who got the first offer. It’s very common for poshers to drop the price on items (like during Poshmark’s Closet Clear Out primo or when a closet has a one day sale) and then raise them back up afterward if the item didn’t sell. So no worries!
