Hi! I'm a Southern California girl with overloaded closets. We're downsizing to a smaller home and I won't have as much closet space anymore, so I'm parting with some great items at great prices. I am obsessed with Anthropologie, so you'll find a lot of that in my closet. I have a habit of buying too many designer bags as well. I see fashion and design as a fine art and want everything I've bought to be loved and enjoyed. Sometimes that means it needs a new home! I do not have any shedding pets nor is there smoking in my home. My closet and everything in it is extremely clean. I use only unscented cleaning products. For items that are not new, I have followed the manufacturer's washing instructions (such as hand wash or dry flat) and used unscented/dye-free cleaning products.

Before I moved here, I lived in San Francisco and my daughter took me to a Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit, where many of his runway gowns, etc, were displayed. Because of the beautiful detail and craftsmanship, my first thought was that they were works of art and not items of clothing. I'm sure I'd feel the same about most couture designer pieces.

vinigrette @kathiem12 that sounds like a fantastic exhibit! I bought the Fendi baguette in the photo because I felt like it exemplified what you're talking about -- fashion as art. It doesn't hold much and it would probably tear if something heavy were placed inside. It was my first "big" designer purchase.

kathiem12 @vinigrette it looks very 60's inspired to me...the whole Twiggy, flower power era. I have a couple of things that I could never part and some that were difficult. I have an item I bought in Venice that i would need to sell through an auction site as its value is hard to explain here. I saw something similar, but smaller on a site for $1,500.

vinigrette @kathiem12 I know exactly what you mean about the sentimental attachment. It's so hard for me to part with some things. I have to remind myself it's the memory and not the thing that enriches me, and that doesn't always work - even for cheap stuff!

vinigrette @kathiem12 I've always had a hard time fitting into Anthro numbered size dresses -- I usually only buy size XL. I'm a very casual gal though! Not many dresses except knits, lots of Bailey 44 and Bordeaux. What color pink -- more like bubblegum, flamingo, peachy pink, dusky rose..? i have maybe a dozen brand new pink cardis.

claye Okay, I think you might be my spirit animal, LOL! We wear the same size and share very similar tastes! Your closet is just... spectacular. You definitely have a black belt in shopping, and I mean this as a compliment of the highest degree ;) As for being a size 12/14 L/XL, I always seem have so much trouble shopping for things that look and fit right. I would welcome any shopping tips you may have!

vinigrette @claye you're so funny! thanks! #1 tip that i can't seem to follow is to stay the same weight! i keep gaining and losing the same 15lbs. know what colors and styles work on you; ignore trends. know which designers cut well for your figure & are consistent in sizing. shop at stores with good customer service, so you can take things back if they fail to meet expectations. construction & fabric are important! family on my dad's side were tailors & taught me how to look for quality.
