The Croquet Player by H. G. Wells, First American Edition Viking Press 1937

This is the first American edition of "The Croquet Player" by H. G. Wells, illustrated by Clifton Line and published by The Viking Press, New York, in 1937. It has a grey cloth covered boards with black accents and silver lettering on the cover and spine; 98 pages. There is no dust jacket. H. G. Wells (1866 - 1946) is widely regarded as one of the founders of science fiction, along with Jules Verne. He wrote the science fiction classics, The Time Machine, The War of the Worlds, and The Invisible Man along with many others. There is a little wear and smudging to the covers and spine along with bumped corners. There are a couple of names and a number inside the front cover. The pages are very clean, just starting to yellow. The binding is tight and sound. Please see the photos.
